International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity 2017 Acts and events
Introduction One more year, Amical de Mauthausen y otros campos has commemorated the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, participating in a large number of events throughout the Spainish geography. In all the acts, some organized only by Amical with groups of students participating in our projects, and in many municipalities that belong to our "Never Again" network, other co-organized with other institutions and organizations, and others with our participation and/or intervention, Amical de Mauthausen has called attention to the Jewish people as a "singular" victim of the Holocaust, has remenbered the memory duty for all victims of nazism for different reasons, including the Spanish republican collective who suffered the deportation for political reasons as enemies of Franco and Hitler, and has claimed, for this group, the legal recognition in Spain as victims, according to International Law. As depositary of the memory of the Spanish Republican deportation and depositary of Mauthausen, Buchenwald and Sachenhausen memories in whose International Committees we are present, and fulfilling the commitment of the oaths of Buchenwald and Mauthausen survivors, Amical de Mauthausen has also denounced the humanitarian tragedy suffered by hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Europe, Africa and other parts of the world, and has urgently demanded the actions of political institutions to find solutions respecting the rights of all people in accordance with the current law and international agreements. As in previous years, Amical de Mauthausen has participated in the most important commemoration acts: the Senate of Spain, the Parliament of Aragón, the Parliament of Cataluña, the Generalitat of Cataluña, the Community of Madrid, the Insular Council of Menorca, with the city councils of Barcelona, Lérida, Madrid, Manresa, Tarrasa, Vilanova y la Geltru, and other towns in Andalucia, Pais Vasco, Valencia, etc. The International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity represents an important milestone in the daily and constant work of Amical de Mauthausen, for the commitment to the memory duty for all victims of nazism, including the Spanish Republicans, and to remind all people, especially young people, who are not willing to remain indifferent and impassive in the face of today injustices, the validity of the oaths of Buchenwald and Barcelona, February 10, 2017
