IF ANYBODY OTHER THAN PARENT/GUARDIAN IS PICKING UP THE CAMPER, THE PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST INFORM CAMP GURMAT ORGANIZER IN ADVANCE. THE PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST SIGN A RELEASE FORM AUTHORIZING PICKUP BY THE DESIGNATED PERSON. What if my child takes prescription medication? Any medications prescribed for your child and any special instructions concerning the health of your child should be left with the Camp Gurmat Health Staff at the time of Check-in. Please bring the prescription medication in original container, clearly labelled with the camper s name, in a Ziploc bag. Medicine should be good enough for the duration for the camp. What kind of food is served? All the food served including meals and snacks is well balanced and nutritious vegetarian. Any food allergy information must be clearly stated in the application forms. Parents are requested NOT to send any food for/with the campers. Can I visit the campsite during the Camp? No, Parents are not allowed to visit Camp site during of the camp. The parents should leave the campsite after the Check-in/orientation on Day-1. Parents are welcomed to join last day of the camp divan. How are campers accommodated? Girl s cabins will have female cabin volunteers while Boy s cabins will have male cabin volunteers assigned. Each cabin is equipped with 2 private bathrooms and 2 private showers (with hot water). Each cabin contain 6 bunk beds with mattress included. But NO comforters and sheets. Can my son visit his sister s Cabin? NO. Boys are NOT allowed in the Girls cabin and Girls are NOT allowed in Boys cabins. Campers are not allowed outside of their cabin without the permission of cabin counselor. Any violations of above will lead to expulsion from Camp. What to bring to the Camp Site? The following items are a MUST. (Please mark your child's clothing) Kesari/Blue Turbans for boys and Kesari/Blue Chunis for girls Pillow, pillow-cases & Bed sheets Comforter or sleeping bag. Heavy jacket and sweaters (appropriate for outdoor winter activity) Towels & toiletry Extra pair of sneakers, flip-flop shoes Special Note Must bring Musical instruments (Harmonium, Tabla, Violin etc.) for individualized training. Please clearly label your instrument. OTHER ITEMS Slacks and jean Rain coat or Umbrella Undergarments and socks for a week Handkerchief or tissues Bug repellent Laundry bag for dirty clothes Flashlight Two pairs of sturdy shoes Towel & wash cloth Optional items: Basketball, Soccer ball, Football Be sure to bring enough clothes to last for the duration of the camp. What NOT to bring to the Camp Site? Prohibited items includes but not limited to: Lanterns, candles, firecrackers, radios, DVD/CD players, IPOD/MP3 Player, Song CD s. Use of mobile/cellular is NOT permitted during the class/lecture/presentation/kirtan What activities are offered? The indoor sessions include classes in Sikh history, Kirtan, Gurmat, Gatka and other interactive sessions/games. The outdoor activities (weather permitting) includes Archery, Boating, Canoeing, Challenge Courses, Wall climbing, open field activities -Volleyball, Baseball, Soccer, and Athletics. Can I call my child during camp? Parents are NOT allowed to contact campers during the entire camp. Emergency situation: Please contact Camp organizers at (469)795-1714 How are campers monitored? A designated group of adult counselors, selected with great care, keeping in mind safety of campers, will stay onsite all five days. DRIVING DIRECTIONS The Collin County Adventure Camp is located in northeast Collin County (North of Dallas) near the town of Westminster. Directions to Collin County Adventure Camp From the north side of McKinney on Highway 75 (Central Expressway) take exit # 45 (Bonham exit, SH 121N) and go north-east. Stay to the right on 121N and follow the Trenton signs. After the highway 121 bridge over Sister Grove Creek, the road goes uphill. At the yellow left turn lane on the top of the hill, make a LEFT at Road 509 (Sign on right says Road 507), heading north. At the stop sign at Road 424, make an immediate right, then an immediate left onto Road 511, also called Gas House Rd., heading north. At the stops sign at FM 2862, also called West Houston St., make an immediate right, then an immediate left. Turn right onto the camp road to the camp entrance. There is a huge stone and wood Collin County Adventure Camp gate, set back. Press and hold the button at the gate while you identify yourself, a staff member will help open it for you. Upon entering camp, please drop off your child(s) at designated drop-off stop. Volunteer(s) will be present at drop-off stop to receive your child(s).
