Highlights of Sun Country Corvette Club May Monthly Meeting May 12, 2017 The May meeting of SCCC was opened by Richard Ferguson, Vice President, filling in for Curt Simpson, President while Curt is out of town. He welcomed everyone and brought the meeting to order @ 7:01 pm. Richard called for a moment of silence for ailing / recovering members and family members; and to remember those of our military service members; police; fire and EMS; as well as our families and friends. There was nothing to add to our Light of Remembrance page this month. Richard thanked Jay Schmidtke & Autonation Chevy as sponsors of the Club. If you re interested in sales, see Mike Grahn or Mike DiBenedetto. The Service Manager and Advisor is Scott Davis. Discounts on Corvettes: Service -10% & over the counter parts 20%. The membership was informed that they need to present their SCCC ID cards when purchasing parts over the counter and if you do not get the discount for some reason to call Curt Simpson. If you need Corvette parts, see member, Frank Dunshee (602-938-8895), who gives SCCC members 10% discount from Chevy or Ecklers. Our Webmaster, Gene Roundtree, was at the head tables to help with technology and to give an update on our Website. Behind the Scenes: Richard thanked members who work behind the scene: our Club Ambassadors- Paul G., present; Phil W., present; and Dick M., not present; and Evie A. Treasurer s Report by Gary Forney Museum Report by Gary. 1. What s happening at the National Corvette Museum A. May 18 th 20 th, C4 Generation Gathering Focuses on the Generation 4 Car but all Generations can attend. B. LeMans 24 Hour Viewing Party- June 17 th June 18 th C. Anniversary Celebration Labor Day Weekend, August 31 st through September 2 nd. 2. Raffles/Other Information A. Past Raffles: 1. April 28, 2017; 2017 Collector Edition GS Coupe, all 1,000 tickets sold @$200 each, went to Flower Mound, TX. 2. April 29, 2017; 2017 Torch Red Convertible, unlimited tickets @$10 each, went to Ft. Wayne, IN. 3. May 11, 2017; 2017 Long Beach Red Convertible, all 1,000 tickets sold @150.00 each, went to Sebring, FL. B. Future Raffles: 1. May 25, 2017; 2017 Blade Silver Coupe, 1500 tickets @ $100 each. 2. June 8, 2017; 2017 Arctic White Z06 Coupe, 1,000 tickets @ $250 each. C. GM has released the 2018 Corvette Specs 1. New Special Edition Corvette is called Carbon 65 which marks this car as the 65 th Anniversary car. 2. New Color announced: Ceramic Matrix Gray which replaces Sterling Blue D. Rumors about the New ZR-1 are real hot. It will probably be announced in late summer. E. Corvette is going to pace the Indy 500 again this year. F. If you are interested in insurance for your Corvette and/or membership to the NCM, please see Gary.

Activities Report by Richard Ferguson To follow Events since last meeting: April Wednesday, April 19, 2017; Lunch out for the Boys, Jimmy M. Captain, Hooters, seven gentleman attended. Wednesday, April 19, 2017: Fun Run to Organ Pipe National Park, Don Ta. Captain, two cars went and Al Wilson reported that the road was a jeep trail and not really made for Corvettes, they could only go 4-5 miles per hour and Don decided to leave his car and he and Al went together in Al s car. It was a beautiful ride, however. Thursday to Saturday, April 20-22, 2017; Laughlin, NV; Bakersfield Corvettes 20 th gamblers Classic. No one from our club attended. Friday April 21, 2017; Ladies Lunch at Carrabas, twelve ladies attended. Friday, April 28, 2017; Alan and Karen Carr s Car Show, quite a few cars from the club attended and all had a good time. Friday to Sunday, May 5-7, 2017; 30 th Route 66 Fun Run, Jimmy M. Captain, fourteen cars from the club attended. Meals were good and all was well except for the wind. Eric Berkley won a plaque for newest car since 1968. Upcoming Events: May Saturday, May 13, 2017; Corvette Corral Car Show; Registration 7 a.m.-11a.m. Location: Mazatzal Casino Parking Lot. Registration Fee: $35, make check out to RCCAC Registration and send to Don McLaughlin, 421 E Continental Dr., Payson, AZ 85541. This will be in conjunction with the Rim Country Corvettes. Thursday, May 18, 2017; Drive and Dine Breakfast to Cordes Junction, Gary Forney captain. Meet at the Basha s at 99 th Ave. and Beardsley at 7:30 a.m. Call Gary at 602-909-1956 to RSVP. Saturday, May 20, 2017; Verde Valley Vettes All Chevy Car Show, Cottonwood, AZ, Larry Green Chevrolet sponsor, $25 registration. Sunday, May 21, 2017; Plastic Fantastic 40 th All Corvette Car Show; Sea Port Village, San Diego, CA. Registration forms are available. Sign-up sheet available at the meeting. We still need a captain on this event. Wednesday, May 24, 2017; Ladies Lunch at Birt s Bistro, 16752 N. Greasewood St. Surprise, 11:30 a.m. June Tuesday-Wednesday, June 20-21, 2017; Kartchner Caverns trip, John S. captain; Leave Phoenix early on Tuesday, visit Tombstone, stay overnight at Comfort Inn near the caverns, visit caverns Wednesday morning, lunch, and home. EVENT CANCELLED

July Tuesday to Saturday, July 11-15, 2017; Black Hills Corvette Classic. This will now be a 6-7 day road trip/event. This will be the 46 th year that this event has been put on by the Sioux Falls Corvette Club. The event will include tours, autocross, poker runs, car show and seminars. December Saturday, December 9, 2017; 2017 Christmas Party, 5:00 p.m., Ironworks Restaurant at the Bellaire Country Club. Terry L. is still selling shirts for $20 in sizes XL and XXL, which are 100% cotton and will shrink, with all proceeds going to the Lion s Club. If you were wondering what happened to your check from the car show, they have now been deposited. She is also asking everyone to save their empty medicine bottles and save them for her (please remove the labels) to give to the Lion s Club in order to transport medicine to 3 rd world countries. Gene Roundtree, our Webmaster, gave an update on the Website. He said it is ready to receive content. He has been learning all the tricks to use the website with Go Daddy. The current website is open to all because no password is needed for access. Because of this, Gene will not put anyone s name in print and any license plate will appear fogged in the picture. Non-members can get on the website to ask questions and fill out forms to join. All contacts will go through John Seeger at his email address. Information on how to use the website will be available for members soon. Gene also asked members to call or email him at 703-585-9150 with any questions they may have. The Christmas Party for this December will have a band. Richard Ferguson and DonnaMae Benninger have reserved the David Maestas Band for our entertainment. The party will be at the Bellaire Country Club at 47 th Ave. north of Bell Rd. in the Ironworks restaurant. It will be on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with dinner served at 6:00 p.m. The place will be pre-decorated for us including a Christmas tree. The meal will include prime rib, baked chicken, potatoes, vegetables, and dessert. Tea and coffee will be included. The cost is $30.00 per person. Our 17 th Annual Vette Fest Car Show will probably be postponed until next spring as we have not started planning and it will be too soon to have it in the fall. No one has offered to volunteer to help Curt with the car show and we have to step up if we are going to have one. Everyone needs to be ready to help. New Business: Beverly S. has two Corvette shirts to give away. If interested, please see her after the meeting. Richard read the list of 10 May birthdays, asked them to stand; everyone sang. Well wishes to all. After meeting dining: We are going to go to Denny s after the meeting, 16 are attending. Next month s meeting June 9, 2017 at AutoNation, 7:00 p.m. Motion was made by Bob Little to adjourn and 2 nd by Terry Linehan. Approved by all members. Motion carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
