This is an additional cost that your Patrol will need to budget for. What additional costs do I need to budget for? Adult and Girl Members are responsible for transportation costs to and from Alberta, additional accommodations (if required), insurance, all camping equipment, and personal expenses. Do I need to purchase insurance to participate in Guiding Mosaic 2016? Yes. Girl Guides of Canada Guides du Canada does not provide travel or medical insurance (SG page 78) and Patrols must budget for/and provide trip cancellation insurance. Parents/guardians are responsible for any medical fees not covered by medical insurance, i.e., prescriptions, eyeglass repair, dental care and are encouraged to look into their personal healthcare plans and consider purchasing additional insurance. Camp participants from out of province must ensure that adequate medical insurance and travel is provided. When fundraising to attend Guiding Mosaic 2016, what are the guidelines I need to follow? Members must apply to their Province for permission to fundraise before undertaking any fundraising efforts other than selling cookies. The FR.1 form can be found under Guider Resources at the following link: http://forms.girlguides.ca/shared%20documents/fundraising/fr1.pdf. Members must check with their provincial office for all fundraising questions.

If I need to cancel, will I be entitled to a refund? Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada refund procedure does not allow for the refund of monies from fundraising and/or cookie incentives. Refund application forms and procedures to follow will be available on the guidingmosaic.com website, once registration opens, here. After February 26, 2016, no refunds will be issued and patrols are encouraged to find a substitute who will take on the program choices made by the girl in the patrol she is replacing. Exceptions, due to extenuating circumstances, shall be considered. PREREQUISITES/REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND GUIDING MOSAIC 2016 What are the age requirements for Canadians to attend Guiding Mosaic 2016? GM2016 is intended for Pathfinders and Rangers (typically girls born between 1998 and 2004). This includes: Girls registered as Pathfinders in the 2015-2016 Guiding year Girls registered as Pathfinders in the 2016-2017 Guiding year Girls registered as Rangers in the 2015-2016 Guiding year and who will be a maximum age of 18 during the event Girls registered as Rangers in the 2016-2017 Guiding year What are the age requirements for international participants? International Girls must be at least 12 years of age and under 18 years of age as of June 30, 2016. Internationals must come as part of a Patrol. For more information, please contact GM2016@girlguides.ca

Are there any prerequisites or camping experience necessary to attend Guiding Mosaic 2016? Yes. Each Girl and Adult Patrol Member must have a minimum of 4 (four) nights in tents, with at least two consecutive nights in tents prior to the camp. This is to be completed through Girl Guide camps. A camp skills training will be developed and will be mandatory for all Patrol Members (girls and adults) to participate prior to GM2016. Although this is not a camp skills based camp, the principle behind these pre-requisites is that patrols are adequately prepared to camp in tents for nine (9) days / (8) eight nights and knowledgeable about basic camping skills that are required for a multi-day national camp. It will also be important that Patrols get to know each other prior to camp, so they have a pleasant and memorable camping experience at GM2016. It is expected that Patrol Guiders will ensure that youth participants have the appropriate knowledge and skills to contribute successfully to a nine day camping experience and are adequately prepared and physically capable of participating in the program activities chosen. Do I need to complete a swim test to attend GM2016? Anyone (girl and adult) who wants to take part in the waterfront swimming program must successfully complete the swim test. For more information on swim tests please click here. Swim Tests (for swimming and boating) should be entered into imis before program selection, but no later than May 15, 2016. Anyone who does not complete these tests will not be allowed in the water. Do I need to complete both a swim test and a boating test? Any girl or adult that passes their swim test, does not have to do a boating swim test. For more information on boating, please click here. Swim Tests (for swimming and boating) should be entered into imis before program selection, but no later than May 15, 2016. Anyone who does not complete these tests will not be allowed in the water. PATROLS What is a Patrol? A Patrol is a group of Pathfinders or Rangers attending Guiding Mosaic 2016. Normally, Patrol Guiders will pre-register members of their Units of Pathfinders or Rangers to attend Guiding Mosaic 2016 together, as a Patrol.

How many people are in a Patrol? The ideal patrol consists of two (2) Guiders and eight (8) girls. A patrol may be any size. Note: A Guider who pre-registers a partial patrol may be combined with another partial patrol or be merged into a Provincial Patrol by GM2016 Provincial Liaisons. I don t have a Patrol to register with, can I still register to attend GM2016? Yes. Girls who do not have a patrol to register with, can pre-register as an individual participant. The Provincial Liaisons will support the placement of individual girls into patrols. What is the minimum ratio for Patrols? At GM2016, two (2) Guiders are required to accompany any Patrol (even if seven (7) girls or less in the patrol) up to and including 14 girls. Patrols must meet the Safe Guide requirements for supervision ratios. GM2016 cannot sustain adult ratio other than what is required by Safe Guide policy. They can be found here. Will Patrols be responsible for bringing their own gear? Yes. Patrols are responsible for bringing their own tenting equipment and personal gear. Requirements will be posted on the GM2016 website and will be communicated to Patrols that register to attend. What options are there for Ranger Patrols? Rangers are camp participants with their own choice of program and not part of Core Crew as was the case at some past national camps. All Rangers, regardless of the program option stream selected, will be camping and sleeping on their own Ranger camp village, separate from the other Pathfinder and Core Crew camp villages. The Adventure Program option (see description below) will see Rangers off-site for a few nights, but they will be on their Ranger camp village before and after their program. The Media Arts Program option (see description below) will be on and off-site during the day only. The Youth Program option (see description below) will be on-site, except for special programming program options.

Can Pathfinders and Rangers be mixed to form one Patrol? No. Rangers and Pathfinders are NOT to register together as a Patrol, as the Ranger and Pathfinder camp villages will be separate. Rangers and Pathfinders can travel together. Partial Pathfinder and Ranger Patrols are encouraged to form full patrols within each branch with a minimum of 2 Guiders and 8 girls or, with the support of the GM2016 Provincial Liaisons, will be combined into full patrols, meeting Safe Guide ratio for supervision. PROGRAMMING How can Transitioning Members participate in GM2016? Transitioning members (TMBRs) are members who have completed Rangers, but are not of the age of majority in their province. TMBRs who are 17 may attend GM2106 as a Ranger. TMBRs who are 18 can choose to attend GM2016 either as a Ranger or as part of Core Crew. Transitioning Members (TMBR) will be required to get signed parental permission before attending camp in either capacity. If the TMBR wishes to apply as core crew, she will be treated as an adult member and will have to submit a Police Record Check as part of her application. She will be screened in the same manner as other Core Crew applicants and will follow Core Crew application procedures. If the TMBR wishes to attend as a Ranger, she will be treated as a girl member and will complete the Intent to Attend form for individual girls on guidingmosaic.com. If she wants to attend with a Patrol, she will participate in the Ranger Program and her Patrol Guider will include her in her Patrol s Intent to Attend form. In either case, she will have to meet all the requirements of a girl member and pay the girl fee. Is there programming available for adults? A drop-in adult program will be developed that will offer training and skills development options for adult participants at GM2016. Will there be a Guest Camper Program? As for past National Camps, the very popular and well-attended Guest Camper program will be offered to GGC members who are not able to attend GM2016 as a camp participant and will include Sparks, Brownies, and Guides. Overnight and Day Camper programs will be available. More information to follow in the Fall of 2015.

VOLUNTEERS Can I volunteer at GM2016? Adult members of Girl Guides of Canada may apply to participate in leadership roles and as Core Crew at the camp. Guidingmosaic.com will periodically post volunteer positions as they become available. I am attending GM2016 as Core Crew. What is available for camping and RV sites? The Camp Woods family camping area has approximately 50 tenting sites and 35 unserviced RV lots. This area is outside the main patrol sleeping and program areas and will be available for use by only the Core Crew staff. Each tenting site must have no more than four (4) tents or a minimum of four (4) people. Each RV lot must have two (2) RVs, with a minimum of two (2) people per RV. Other camping areas will be available for Core Crew camping, as required. More details will follow.
