70 th National Senior Convention 31 st National Junior Convention Hosted by Holy Ghost ACRY Chapter #30 - Phoenixville June 16, 2014 Dear ACRY Members: Phoenixville ACRY Chapter #30 is pleased to be your host for the 70 th Senior and 31 st Junior Conventions August 29 September 1, 2014. We have worked hard to put together a weekend we hope everyone will enjoy. Room rates are $99 + tax per night. Room reservations must be made no later than Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in order to obtain the convention rate. An on line link has been created for our use when booking rooms for the weekend. Those who prefer may call the hotel directly at 610 265 7500 and reference American Carpatho Russian Youth (ACRY) to obtain the special convention rate. To allow everyone the opportunity to visit the area, the Crowne Plaza will honor the above room rates for early arrivals on Thursday. Meal package prices are $130.00 for adults and $120.00 for juniors 12 and older, $85.00 for all juniors/children 5 11, with children under 5 free. The package includes five (5) meals Saturday continental breakfast, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner buffet, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday banquet. Individual tickets for each affair are also available. All delegates must purchase a meal package. On Saturday afternoon, we have arranged a tour of Valley Forge National Park, the site of General George Washington's winter encampment in 1777 78. The cost is $10 per person. A sign up sheet for this tour is included in this mailing, and must be returned with your payment to guarantee your place on the tour. Saturday night is Derby Night. Entertainment will once again be A Nite at the Races. Dress to Impress everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their favorite derby attire Derby attire! And remember, Derby hats are not only reserved only for the ladies, many a gentleman attend a Derby with an original or a handcrafted Derby statement piece.
For early arrivals, we have arranged a golf outing on Friday, August 29 th, beginning at 9:00 am. Also, the hotel is directly across the street from the King of Prussia mall, one of the largest shopping malls in the US. The City of Philadelphia, with its many attractions such as the Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia Zoo (America s 1 st zoo!), Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, is a 30 minute drive from the hotel. Ads, patrons and boosters, must be postmarked by Monday, July 28, 2014 to guarantee inclusion in the commemorative booklet. Electronic submission is encouraged. Any ad submitted electronically should also have the font(s) especially custom fonts embedded in the file to ensure the ad is printed as intended. Anyone in need of logo art can email Greg and he will provide a word file containing the ACRY logo and various other items (Orthodox crosses, etc.) for use with your ad. Anyone choosing to submit a hard copy ad may use the enclosed form and Greg will create the ad for you. 2014 ACRY Convention General Information Sheet Junior Consent Forms In order to attend and participate in any activity, all junior members must return a signed consent form to the National Sr. ACRY Vice President, prior to arriving at the convention, at the following address: Rachel Pribish National SR ACRY Vice President 668 S. Broad St. Elizabeth, NJ 07202 JUNIORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN CONVENTION ACTIVITIES, AND TICKET PACKAGES WILL NOT BE RELEASED WITHOUT CONSENT FORMS BEING SIGNED AND RETURNED TO THE NATIONAL SR VICE PRESIDENT PRIOR TO THEIR ARRIVAL AT THE CONVENTION. Meal Packages The meal package includes five (5) meals: Continental breakfast Saturday morning, plated lunch Saturday afternoon, Buffet Dinner Saturday evening, Breakfast Buffet Sunday following Divine Liturgy and the Sunday Grand Banquet, where we are offering a choice of: 1. Boneless Breast of Chicken with wild rice demi glace, or 2. Slow roasted choice Sirloin of Beef served caramelized shallots and burgundy essence Children/Juniors ages 5-11 will be served chicken fingers w/french fires Sunday evening. Note that this is a two-sided form. Please be sure to indicate meal selections for each person attending the convention. Separate National Senior ACRY Officer meal package prices apply as listed on the form. All delegates must purchase a meal package. Please designate one person from your chapter to pick up your chapter s tickets Friday evening. Also, list the name and phone number of someone to contact should the Committee have any questions. Golf Outing A golf outing is scheduled for Friday morning beginning at 9:00 am at Bella Vista Golf Course. The cost is $60.00 per person. Directions to the golf course will be available at the front desk of the hotel Thursday evening. Derby Nite Following dinner Saturday evening, festivities continue with A Nite at the Races. Everyone in attendance will receive play money to do with as they wish. Join in the fun and place a wager hold your money until the end the choice is yours. Following the last race, winnings may be turned in for tickets to participate in our end of the race raffle. You will have the opportunity to use your tickets to win one (or more) of the many exciting prizes. (over)
Valley Forge National Park Tour Following the business sessions on Saturday, buses will depart the hotel at 3:00 PM for a guided tour of Valley Forge National Park. The tour will take approximately two (2) hours. We are asking for a donation of $10 to offset the cost of this excursion. During this outing, Juniors should remain with their parent(s) or designated chaperon. Parents will be responsible for chaperoning their own children. Those Juniors without parents present will be chaperoned by the adult indicated as such on their Parent Consent Form. Chapter #30 will not be responsible for keeping track of Juniors and appreciate your cooperation.
