NOTES FROM THE PREZ: We had our June Board meeting at Van s Tavern in Barneveld and I must say it went very well. We have a lot on tap this summer. I would strongly recommend checking the newsletter and website for up dates and reminders. Relay for Life was a huge success and I want to thank Patty O Hara, Ron Geiskopf, Heather Martin and Wayne Franz for their long hours of had work. This club is very lucky to have people like this. I also want to thank Wayne Franz for setting up and running the Golf outing earlier in June. Another good time had by all. Thanks. Don t forget Boiler Maker Sunday, July 10 th and fireworks on Friday for the volunteers. Make it a great event. Volunteer your time. We are all busy. Let s hope Andy in up to speed. More summer events: Kayaking, Camping, more Golf and the Summer Picnic at Hinckley. DON T FORGET. Behind the scenes: Looking to bring back Dr. Vora, speakers for our general meetings, planning a 45 th Anniversary/Christmas Party in December. This will be a big celebration. Looks like December 10 th could be the date. More information to follow! Linda Irwin Karen Semeraro and myself are working on this. Trips are busy working on details for the winter. Anyone interested in working on an event, please email me. It is your club! 5th Annual Doug O'Hara Memorial Open On Sunday June 5th, the 5th Annual Doug O'Hara Memorial Golf Open took place at a very scenic and hilly Holland Heights Golf Course. A total of 28 golfers spent the afternoon golfing in Doug's memory. The team of Reggie Carter/Gail Charzuk/Dave Parzych and Theresa came in with the winning score of 37. For closest the pin, Paul Zajac and JesseVerna took honors. Mike Manley and Anne Bajan took the honors. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who donated prizes for this event: Paul Zajac, Ron Geiskopf, myself, Patti O'Hara, the GE Ski Club and a special thanks to Joe Carino who embroidered a cozi can cooler for each golfer with the lettering "Doug O'Hara 5th Annual Memorial Golf Outing." Very thoughtful, Joe! I would also like to thank everyone who came for making this event fun and memorable! Hope to see you next year! Maybe we will try a different course next year! I am open for suggestions! "HEAR YE, HEAR YE", Team GE Ski Club WE DID IT ALL DAY & ALL NIGHT!!! Relay For Life 2011 is in the books. We walked, sold ALL bike raffle tickets, and raised just over $2000 for the American Cancer Society. We could not have done this without a lot of help and support from all of you over the past few months (donations, raffles, golfing, eating at Uno's,etc...) We would like to make special mention of the Friday set-up crew..conrad Dorn, Fran Roy, Liza Johnson, Mike hardiman, Kathy green, Paul Zajac, Anne Bazan, and Tom O'Hara (thanks for your carport)...also the Midnight to 5 AM walkers: Conrad Dorn, Wayne Franz, Liza Johnson, and Jim White...also Dick Sonne's for the Great bike to raffle..and Paul Zajac and Anne Bazan for donating and printing the raffle tickets (400). Thanks to all those that came Saturday afternoon and evening and walked in the cold and the rain (Thanks Judy for the afternoon shift!). We had a great (alittle soggy) cookout with a variety of wonderful, interesting (Wayne's baked beans), yet healthy food. Two special notes: We made 2 people very happy on Sunday morning. Dan Maycock won the bike and Marge Cahill won the loung chair. They were both thrilled. Secondly, due to very inclement weather Saturday evening, the luminary bags were not set out. The cancer Society/Relay Committee is scheduling another evening in August @ MVCC for teams, family, friends to attend and complete this part of the ceremony. Stay tuned for details (probably a newsblast). We hope you can join us for this "Night of Remembrance" Team GE Ski Club, Pat, Ron, Heather, Sue, Wayne, and Gracie
