WILD WYOMING: A SCIENTIFIC ADVENTURE JUNE 21-30, 2019

DAY 1 DAY 2 ARRIVAL AND WELCOME Welcome to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Families arrive and get settled at the Teton Science Schools Jackson Campus. Activities for the day include orientation to the Teton Science Schools, dinner, and an evening introductory lecture about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. MEALS: Dinner GRAND TETONS HIKE Spend the first part of the day getting to know the other families with whom you will be spending the rest of the trip. Our first full day in Grand Teton National Park includes a hike at the base of the Tetons, while learning about the forces that shape this area. In the evening, families can try out the low elements of Teton Science School s Doug Walker Challenge Course, an outdoor experiential obstacle course on the Jackson campus.

DAY 3 DAY 4 CANOE EXPLORATION Today, we consider the role water plays in the ecosystem during a canoe trip on String Lake in Grand Teton National Park where we discuss water resources and watershed science. Then we take an optional walk near the lake to learn more about the geological features of the Grand Tetons. Spend the evening on your own exploring the town of Jackson. **CANOEING AND SCENIC FLOAT TRIP participants must be at least 6 years old and over 40 pounds to participate in these activities, and must be at least 8 years old to actively paddle a canoe. THE VIEW FROM THE SKY Spend the day in the clouds! Plan to tackle the high elements of the Doug Walker Challenge Course and head up to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Aerial Tram for a hike at the top of the Tetons focused on the many communities that make up this ecosystem. Take some time in the evening to prepare for your trip to Yellowstone National Park. OVERNIGHT: Jackson campus of Teton Science Schools

DAY 5 DAY 6 LIFE IN THE EXTREME YELLOWSTONE DAY 1 This morning, we travel north to begin our three-day adventure in Yellowstone National Park. Families explore geothermal features in the park with stops at Old Faithful and afternoon options to explore Grand Prismatic and Mystic Falls. In the evening, we set up camp, walk along the shores of Yellowstone Lake, and sleep under a star-filled sky with the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon. You may know your constellations, but in Yellowstone, the constellations are a few stars among thousands filling the sky. OVERNIGHT: Yellowstone National Park campsite at Bridge Bay WILDLANDS AND WILDLIFE YELLOWSTONE DAY 2 After a night in the great outdoors, rise early for a wildlife adventure in Lamar Valley, the best location in the world to witness wild bears, wolves, bison, and pronghorn in their natural environment. Plan for a short walk in the park on the way back to the campsite. In the evening, we celebrate a great day outdoors with a campfire and s mores. OVERNIGHT: Yellowstone National Park campsite at Bridge Bay

DAY 7 DAY 8 GRAND CANYON YELLOWSTONE DAY 3 Today we spend the day exploring some of the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Our day features panoramic views along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, with stops at key viewpoints and a hike along the canyon. Later in the day, travel back to the Jackson Campus and enjoy a live musical performance after two nights of camping. FAMILY FREE DAY Explore Jackson and surrounding areas in whichever ways interest you. Options include spending the day in the Jackson downtown, going on a family hike, renting mountain bikes, going on a horseback trail ride, or taking a boat trip across Jenny Lake. Plan to book your experiences early! The Teton Science School will provide a shuttle to and from downtown in the morning and afternoon. For those who are interested, staff will be available to take a group of folks on a morning or afternoon hike in the local area. Finish off the day back at the Jackson Campus to enjoy a presentation from a local scientist.

DAY 9 DAY 10 INSPIRATION AND SCIENCE We rise early and start off the day with a scenic float trip down the Snake River followed by a science-based hike to Inspiration Point in Grant Teton National Park. Later we explore the Teton Science Schools Murie Ranch campus, where renowned conservationists and naturalists Olaus and Mardy Murie lived. In the evening, enjoy a celebratory dinner at Dornan s in Grand Teton National Park. **CANOEING AND SCENIC FLOAT TRIP participants must be at least 6 years old and over 40 pounds to participate in these activities, and must be at least 8 years old to actively paddle a canoe.
