ANANTARA BAZARUTO ISLAND RESORT & SPA FACT SHEET SECTION 1: LODGE OVERVIEW LOCATION: Bazaruto Island, Bazaruto Archipelago. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa resides on the largest island within the jewel-like Bazaruto Archipelago, 30 kilometres east of Vilanculos mainland. The Archipelago comprises a group of small islands situated approximately 25km off the coast of Mozambique. Bazaruto is the largest (approximately 37km long and up to 7km wide) and northern-most of the five islands. Indigo Bay Resort and Spa is situated +/- 750km north of Maputo on the western side of the Island. This resort is raised throughout on wooden walkways to not disturb the vegetation. There are many walkways that link the core areas of the resort to the rooms and facilities. Guests are required to do quite a lot of walking to and from the public areas, but it is also possible to call for a golf cart. The Spa is situated a 15 minute walk from the central area and most guests can call reception for a golf cart to drop them off and collect them. Should the group not have reserved exclusive-use, then group delegates will be requested to follow the dinner venue programme of the hotel, with a semi-private area set up for the group. Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa rotate their dinner venues between the following locations depending on the weather and tides. Golfinho Beach Deck Clube Naval The main restaurant where dinner and breakfast are generally served, featuring an outside deck. Lit by beach torches, table s set-up on the Beach Deck spill out onto the beach (this is tide dependent), so guests can enjoy a traditional Mozambican BBQ with their toes wriggling in the sand. Savour Anantara Bazaruto s excellent cuisine in a sleek, modern nautical themed restaurant, with a stylish bar and lounge area adjacent to a pool and beach. Private and themed dinners can be customised to suit the group, and the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa team will ensure a memorable evening! Please note however, private and themed dinners can only be arranged if the group has exclusiveuse of the hotel, this is due to limitations on staff, equipment and generated power. We
appreciate your understanding in this regard. If exclusivity is not booked, there is the option of either a semi-private dinner with no additional cost (the group will dine from the same buffet as the other in-house guests, but they will be seated in a semi-private area with the themed decor) or if they insist of an entirely private dinner, a surcharge of USD 500.00 will be levied ( rates are subject to change). ENTERTAINMENT FOR EXCLUSIVE USE GROUPS Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa can provide a limited variety of entertainment options to suit the mood of your dinner. A group of local islanders offer a rousing 15-minute performance of traditional song and dance, which is a heart-warming introduction to Mozambican culture. Razzling the night away with a DJ or live music is an option if the group has booked exclusive-use of the resort. Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa does not have a resident DJ, and any entertainment requirements of this nature would have to be arranged by the group. All additional costs (including travel and accommodation) would be for the groups account. We can only offer your group a party venue with loud music/entertainment if exclusive use has been booked (this is in consideration of other in-house guests). Should the group require any additional decor requirements, over and above the standard decor of the resort, then this would have to be arranged by the group and all additional costs incurred would be for the groups account. This is due to the remote location of the resort and limitations on equipment. RECOMMENDED GROUP ACTIVITY INFORMATION GENERAL All non-motorised water sports are free of charge to hotel guests. Available on a first come, first serve basis. ISLAND DRIVE An interesting two hour drive in our 4x4 vehicle on and around Bazaruto Island, includes a visit to a local village for a brief introduction to traditional island life-styles, local school and clinic, or watching glorious sunsets from the dunes. Maximum number of passengers: 16. WATER SPORTS Water skiing and tubing is offered on our Gulf Craft 20 Swan. Slalom, Tandem and Wake/Knee-Boards are available. DHOW SUNSET CRUISE A sunset cruise is the perfect form of relaxation after a long day. Enjoy a true Mozambican experience by sailing on a local Dhow. Maximum numbers approximately 6 to 10 people per dhow (additional dhows can be hired from locals upon request depending on size of the group).
SANTA CAROLINA ISLAND VISIT Allow your group to be transferred by boat to a deserted island for a day of leisure and exclusivity. Our staff will pack snorkellingkits, umbrella s for shade, a variety of beach games and serve up a casual beach barbeque for lunch. Santa Carolina/Paradise Island is where Survivor South Africa was filmed in December 2009 and was a holiday hot-spot for the rich and famous in the 70 s. Due to the out-break of civil war in Mozambique, the island was pretty much deserted and there are a number of ruins that the group can explore at leisure (unfortunately, we cannot offer a guided tour of the ruins). Maximum number: approximately 60 guests per group. Additional charge for boat hire to transfer guests to Paradise. SNORKELLING Allow our qualified team to take your group on a memorable snorkelling experience. Many of the shallower reefs in and around Bazaruto Island offer excellent opportunities for snorkelling. Complimentary snorkelling excursions are offered daily. Space is limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. HORSE RIDING Our horseback adventure allows you to experience Bazaruto s wildlife, scenery and culture at close quarters. Duration 1 2 hours. Beach Ride Coconut Bay or Dhow Bay & Villages Bazaruto Dune Ride Nature Ride to Red Cliffs Our hardy and carefully selected Boerperde, cater for novices and advanced riders alike. Our Stable Manager will conduct basic riding lessons for guests requiring instruction. Full chaps and riding hats are available on site. DUNE BOARDING Although hurtling down a sand dune at break-neck speeds on a thin plank of wood might not be everyone s idea of a day well spent, Bazaruto Island dunes offer a great place to get a bird s eye view of the island. SUGGESTED ROOM DROP OR POST EVENT TEASER SUGGESTIONS As part of an initiative to assist with stimulating the local community, Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa source their room drops on Bazaruto Island. The local island handicraft would include items such as capulana s, miniature dhows and sea-shell bracelets. Prices available on request and orders must be placed at least three months prior to arrival. Special Notes Lunch on the day of departure is not included in the rate. Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa works very closely with the communities on the island and we currently run a program where USD10.00 per room is added to the bill and donated to either building school classrooms or assisting with sinking wells for fresh water. Should you not want to contribute to this fund, please advise us in advance? National Park Fees at USD 15.00 per person once off payable directly at the resort ( rates subject to change at any time) Our Bar Operating Hours at Anantara Island Resort and Spa are from 11h00 to 23h00 only. Should your group have booked exclusivity and require the bar to open outside these hours, an over-time charge for the staff will be levied and beverages will be charged for, based on consumption. Pre-selected wines for all groups must be submitted in writing at least three months prior to arrival. Any beverages pre-ordered that do not form part of our standard fully inclusive stock will be charged for (this will include IVA to land the products at our properties). Please ensure that all luggage is labelled clearly prior to arrival at the resort to ensure that all items are roomed correctly on the guests behalf. Our standard catering for large groups is buffet style this is for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Should the group have any other catering requests; we will assist where possible, but additional charges may be incurred. Unfortunately, we cannotprovide any kosher catering or assist in arranging any kosher meals to be brought to the resort. This is due to the remote location of Bazaruto Island.
