On behalf of the Coastal Structures 2019 Local Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 8 th international Coastal Structures conference to be held September 30 th October 2 nd, 2019, in Hannover, Germany. Coastal Structures 2019, co-hosted by Leibniz Universität Hannover, Technische Universität Braunschweig and the Coastal Research Center (FZK), is intended to provide a forum to present and discuss the latest developments in coastal protection. It focuses on all aspects related to coastal structures from climate change impact to nature-based design. It will build on the successes of previous conferences held in Santander, Spain (1999), Portland, USA (2003), Venice, Italy (2007), Yokohama, Japan (2011) and Boston, USA (2015). Coastal Structures 2019 is organised under the auspices of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and it supported by the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute (BAW); it will provide a stimulating and enriching forum to discuss the latest developments and trends in the coastal realm. A varied presentation format is designed to encourage participation from both the public and private sector. Distinguished keynote speakers, industry exhibitions and high-tier scientific advancements will be highlighted. As well, a technical tour of the Coastal Research Center (FZK) displaying latest upgrading developments will be included.
