That is, when events are organized by foreign companies, the VAT is not charged for the services specified in the tax rules. In this tax benefit came into effect for international congress organizers, allowing the application of a 0% tax rate for value added tax (VAT) for Congresses, Conventions, Trade Shows and Exhibitions held in Mexico. REQUIREMENTS: The event organizing body must be based outside Mexico. All deposits and payments related to the congress must come from an account or credit card with an address that is not in Mexico. Since launch, notable progress includes: Created a Rapid Response Network : Developed a realtime and ongoing communications Rapid Response network with local hoteliers and businesses to encourage information sharing of any suspicious activity or reported incidents and to alert appropriate authorities and law enforcement. Accelerated the Security Surveillance System Expansion: Phase I is currently in progress, onboarding hotel cameras to the destination s surveillance network. Today, security officials have an improved panoramic overview of the destination. Phase II will involve the installation of new cameras along the corridor and in tourist hotspots. Building a New Marine Base: On schedule to open in Q 08, the new C intelligence center will feature stateoftheart technology, empowering the Mexican marines to operate the surveillance system and manage emergency hurricane response the first of its kind in Mexico. Organized a Hotel Security Committee: Working with the Hotel Association, the Committee meets biweekly to address concerns, share best practices and ensure security protocols at all area hotels. Set New Training and Security Protocols: Working closely with the U.S. State Department, Los Cabos implemented new security training programs and protocols in area hotels and businesses aligned with OSAC (Overseas Security Advisory Council) standards. ZIKA Thanks to the geographic location and desert climate with very few rains throughout the year, the propagation of mosquitoes are less common. So far in 08, Baja California Sur has had zero cases of Zika in 08. However, constant pest control has been implemented, for precautionary reasons and standard control.
