Lionard Luxury Real Estate Via dei Banchi, 6 - ang. Piazza S. Maria Novella 50123 Florence Italy Tel. +39 055 0548100 Fax. +39 055 0548150 Liguria Savona CASTLE FOR SALE IN LIGURIA ITALY DESCRIPTION In a dominant position on the coast of Italy located on a sunny hill, enchanting castle for sale in Liguria with a wonderful view over the Italian riviera. Despite the construction of the residence took place between 1936 and 1941, it reminds the style of the medieval defensive castles, thanks to its sighting turrets, the battlements, the double-and triple-windows that represent typical elements of medieval origin. In addition to this influence, they are very interesting some features that remind the Gothic and Arabic style that blend well with the medieval architecture. The real estate on the Italy coast still preserves its original "U" shape and is distributed on three floors plus a basement and a tower on two levels. The exterior of the property in Liguria was constructed with a lot of attention to detail, but what is immediately visible it is the beautiful contrast of colors resulting from the combination of two types of facing: the bottom is covered with the typical light-colored stone of Finale, while the top is covered with red bricks.

The majesty of the exterior is in contrast with its interior that is very simple, without any overt decorations or showy items. It's a classic house where the internal environments are located around a central room. Indeed, the basement is composed by a spacious central dining room/bar, around which there are a kitchen and a staff bathroom, while a stock room is under the staircase leading to the garden. The ground floor houses an octogonal room around which there are an office, a staff bedroom and four guests bedrooms. The first floor, the so-called "piano nobile" has the same layout of the lower level and in addition to the central room, there are seven bedrooms, three of which with terrace. The second floor is occupied not only by four bedrooms, but also a wide terrace connected with stairs to the upper terrace. On the last level, inside the tower, there is a bedroom where you can admire a magnificent panorama from this property on the Italian riviera. TECHNICAL DETAILS LOCATION The history of Finale is extraordinarily rich. Each epoch has left an important heritage. Prehistoric findings have an absolute European relevance. Many of the relics, found inside the numerous caves spread all over the Finale territory, are fundamental to reconstruct the way of life of the different types of prehistoric men. During the Middle Ages the protagonists of Finalese history were the Del Carretto, descendants of the Aleramic dynasty. The Del Carretto Marquisate was a cause of destabilization for the territories under the rule of Genoa for a long time, thus raising its hostility, which culminated in the famous War of Finale. It lasted from 1447 to 1449 and was recorded by Gian Mario Filelfo. A period of great splendour, prosperity and building activity followed during which the Marquisate "recovered" after the destruction caused by the Genoese. Afterwards, its history mingled with the conflicts between France and Germany. In the mid 16th century, Finale went through a period of decline. The Marquisate was sold to Spain in 1602. For one century Finale became a strategic territory as well as an important port, allowing Spain to control Northern Europe through the State of Milan. The Spaniards developed communications and restructured the defensive system. The Spanish domination ended in 1707 after the crisis for the succession to the Spanish throne which followed Charles II s death (1700). Changing fortunes led to the selling of the Marquisate to Genoa (1713). Under the ancient enemy s rule prosperity ended and there were revolts in 1730 and 1734. The destruction of Gavone Castle by the Genoese in 1715 represents the end of an epoch. In 1740, after the death of emperor Charles VI, Finale was involved in the war of Austrian succession, which saw Austria, Piedmont and England struggling against the Bourbons, France and Spain. After the peace of Aquisgrana (1748) Finale definitively fell under Genoa s rule. Losing every privilege and international protection, it then became a quiet provincial centre, under the authority of the capital. The Marquisate which still formally existed, came to an end in 1795 with the arrival of the French and the constitution of the Ligurian Republic.
