Imagine See Learn Enter Our world. the Gladstone region. Site of 21st century industry, sustainability, conservation, tourism, arts, culture and heritage. In partnership with QUT, the Gladstone Engineering Alliance is proud to present The Gladstone Globe, an interactive walkway focussed on creating compelling stories of the Gladstone region to engage communities, organisations, tourists and businesses. The Globe project was launched at the 2014 G20 Leaders Summit, hosted by Brisbane, and promotes Queensland s valuable trade and investment opportunities in a state-of-the-art digital earth visualisation engine. The project features the State government s renowned open data collection as well as highresolution satellite imagery, interactive animations, and integrated multimedia for visitors to explore, discover and share. And now the Gladstone Engineering Alliance is bringing The Globe to Gladstone. What will it do for industry?
Imagine For the first time our industries will be able to display their information in a virtual and immersive experience. Imagine being able to integrate science, engineering, ecology, and production such that the viewer can learn about the intricacies of how products such as aluminium are made, hear from the captain of a tug boat how he berths a giant coal ship, what is involved in creating LNG gas, how do we make cement, how a power plant operates, or discover the various research programmes underway to ensure the health of the harbour the opportunities are endless.
See The Gladstone Globe opens up infinite possibilities to delve into a world rarely seen by the public. The Gladstone Globe projects are interactive. Touch the screens to zoom-in on an industry, use the + symbol to expand information contained in the project. Vision Environment Vision Environment has a history of providing quality environmental monitoring services to clients in Australia and New Zealand since 2008. Vision Environment, is an established Central Queensland business, comprising of a highly qualified team of fulltime research staff, dedicated laboratory facilities, specialised field equipment and a fleet of commercial vessels, providing readily mobilised field technical teams for projects in Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Vision Environment, which specialises in the delivery and functional usability of high quality real time compliance data, was the major environmental contractor for the Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project and Queensland Gas Company(QGC) LNG (QCLNG) Narrows Crossing Project in Gladstone from 2009 2013 (Australia s second largest dredge project). The company also completed the water quality and marine ecology components for the Channel Duplication Project EIS for Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) in Gladstone. More recently Vision Environment expanded interstate and internationally, undertaking the compliance monitoring for the TasPorts Devonport Maintenance Dredge Project and being awarded the water quality monitoring for the three year Lyttelton Port of Christchurch, Channel Deepening Project in New Zealand, the country s largest dredge project to date. Specific sub programmes allow the viewer to gain insights into industry practices such as what is involved in building an alumina refinery, how a coal ship is loaded, operating an LNG plant, how industry is working to be environmentally responsible and the specific research projects each industry manages.
