CONASTA 68 Pre-Conference tour: Introduction Singapore STEM Join your fellow science teachers on this exciting STEM focused tour to Singapore. Offering a range of experiences across science, technology, design, history, culture and more, this 5D/4N program is designed specifically for Australian teachers in line with the Australian curriculum. For $1515.00 per person Land Only (twin share room) or $2070.00 per person Land Only (single room), experience the wonders of Singapore before returning to Darwin to attend CONASTA 68. Itinerary DAY 1 Monday July 1st ARRIVE IN SINGAPORE (L, D) Arrive into Singapore from your preferred city. In some cases, this may require arrival the evening before, for others it may require an overnight flight. On arrival, take a taxi or the train (MRT) to your accommodation. Your tour begins at 12pm in the foyer of the hotel (TBA) meet the group over lunch Group will then make their way to nearby Tanjong Pagar station, purchase their MRT pass at the customer service desk and take the MRT to Marina Bay Sands to visit the Singapore ArtScience Museum. Explore the interrelationship between art, science, technology and culture, featuring 21 galleries as well as major exhibitions exploring aspects of scientific history Wander around the Marina Bay complex before making your way to the nearby river pick up point for your Bumboat Cruise to Clarke Quay Dinner tonight is at Kublai Kahn Mongolian BBQ and buffet, before taking the MRT back to your accommodation. DAY 2 Tuesday July 2nd SINGAPORE (B) After breakfast make your way by MRT to the offices of Hiverlab, a pioneering infocomm media technology innovation and content production company focusing on content and system development with immersive technology and media VR content. Teachers will be introduced to immersive technology and media, and the use of VR content including use of 360 cameras. An overview of their student workshops will be provided. Following lunch nearby (own arrangements) take the MRT to Marina Barrage, Singapore s 15th reservoir located in the heart of the city. Learn about the 3 in 1 benefits of the Barrage water supply, flood control and water technology and review the digital interactive exhibits and educational boards highlighting Singapore s sustainability initiatives in the Media gallery From here it s a short walk to Gardens by the Bay and marvel at the botanical wonder of the Cooled Conservatories, Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. Conservation, sustainability of ecosystems and plant diversity are the focus along with the impact of human activities on flora and fauna, and climate change. Enjoy dinner nearby at one of the many food courts or outdoor markets before viewing the spectacular light show and SuperTrees at 1945 before returning to your hotel.
DAY 3 Wednesday July 3rd SINGAPORE (B, D) After breakfast catch the MRT to Space Academy Singapore. Qualified instructors will provide instruction and insights on real world experience having worked on the ISS, Hubble Telescope, Space Shuttle and the X-37 Orbital Space Vehicle. An overview is provided on how they prepare students for the rigorous high school science and technology curriculum, using challenging problem-based investigations After lunch nearby (own arrangements) make your way to Science Centre Singapore by MRT, an interactive science playground with more than 1000 interactive exhibits for discovery. Explore the range of science workshops available for student groups including DNA, Physics and Chemistry, and many more.
