Troutdale Airport Master Planning History 1942 US Department of Commerce, Civil Aeronautics Administration Throughout the 1950 s and 60 s Airport Master Plans were completed for Troutdale Airport 1979, 1990 and 2004: The Port, with the FAA, completed modern Master Plan studies for Troutdale Airport that included: Inventory of existing facilities Forecasts of aviation demand Alternatives for development Preferred Alternative 2004 Master Plan included Noise Compatibility analysis, financial management and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) 17
1990 and 2004 Master Plan Findings Growth likely to be relatively slow Adequate capacity and land supply for 20 years Facilities suited for current and future role (1990) Future investments needed to maintain facilities and meet current design standards (2004) Noise exposure to sensitive areas is limited (2004) Protect airspace for future instrument approach (2004) 18
2004 MP - Role of the Troutdale Airport Alternative airport to PDX for general aviation aircraft basing and operations (land & airspace capacity) Flight training (in cooperation with MHCC) Recreational flying Business aviation aircraft charter services Aircraft services fuel, engine repair, avionics, hangars, helicopter components, etc. US Forest Service fire fighting air-tanker base 19
