Even though I ( D) had just got out of the hospital on the 12th of October, we wanted to continue with our fun campout plans at Walkabout RV Resort. You guessed it, EVERYONE attending pitched in to help in anyway they could, without being asked! Jim & I arrived on Wednesday to finish the grocery shopping & check out a nice restaurant for the group to enjoy on Saturday evening. Thursday brought in Early Birds, Don & Tressa, John & Sue, Al & Della, Larry & Harriet, Joe & Buddy, Dave & Lucy and Frank & Linda. An unscheduled meal of hot dogs (grilled by Jim) and other goodies Thursday night, filled our tummies and the camaraderie began. Members enjoyed board games, signing up Happy Birthday November John Johnson - 2nd Paula Klaiber - 14th Rita Pelz - 17th Happy Anniversary November Jim and D Mc Dade - Happy 10th Anniversary! their pets for the "Man's best friend" contest, swapping tales, laughter and ice cream & cookies. Friday morn, ladies prepared an oatmeal breakfast with lots of toppings, fresh fruit and pastries for the hungry campers. After clean-up, ladies learned how to make Snowflakes out of paper towel tubes! Time allowed them to also put together "Fits". Fun and easy crafts while the men did their thing. In the afternoon, Tressa, Linda, Lucy and Della started separating the toiletries that had been donated to the VA by Tressa s church. Joe came in and took over one of the tables - many hands made quick work of a tedious job. Jim put a brisket in a roaster just to simmer to perfection for the evening meal. Tressa & Lucy assembled Apple Dumplings later on in the afternoon, while D mixed gravy for the mashed potatoes to add to the potluck. Later, Susan & Robert arrived, set up camp and visited with members at Al's campsite. Wow, what a variety of delicious side dishes accompanied the Friday meal. After clean up, Special Bingo was brought out. D & Jim donated ALL MONIES collected to the "Pennies for Pooches" and

the VA Fund. (Thanks to the generosity of our players!) Winners of Special Bingo, selected fun whimsical prizes. Many members the enjoyed board games, or just exchanged light conversations. Saturday morning, ladies prepared a wonderful breakfast of Sausage, biscuits & gravy, an egg casserole, hard boiled eggs and sooooo much more to delight everyone. A feast for sure. Shortly there after, Sharon & Pam and Debbie brought Trudy in for the day. The winner of the $10.00 gift card for "Man's Best Friend" contest was Casey (Jim & D's cat). No, the ballot box was not rigged, Frank & Linda put Casey's name in the drawing! Because many members had night time driving issues, D suggested that after the group dinner out, those members who want to go to the Woodbine Opry, do caravan, while others stayed behind to enjoy cards, board games or camaraderie. On Sunday Morning, Lucy presented an inspirational devotion, before everyone headed home or to Tennessee (Samboree). D & Jim again, want to thank everyone for all the assistance given to them at this campout. As an added note, D was admitted again to the hospital on the 27th for internal bleeding. She's home again, but is weak, tired and recovering slowly. Our Weekend in a Photo Review Left - Clubhouse at Walkabout Below - Our rigs and the resident mascots free roaming chickens. Left: Jim shakes up the numbers for the Special Bingo Games - John waiting for games to start. Due to a slight delay, a few folks decided to grab a few zzzzz s - Joe, Robert and Tressa enjoyed the break before the fun began. Thanks to the generosity of our hosts and the players, the Pennies for Pooches and the VA Fund received a healthy boost.

Above - Group at Millhouse Steakhouse and Brewery - We were glad to see Barb and Ed Eddings, who live in Georgia and were able to come have dinner with us. Don had a good time picking on Sue who loves to taste-test John s food - actually he loves to share with her. Everyone had a good time, the food was good and the service was great. Below, Left, Louie Johnson models the newest fashion trend for the Getaway Pooches - a Getaway Pooch Vest made for him by Sue Johnson. Below, Right, Joe at the Ronald McDonald House turning in the tabs the Getaways had collected. Joe has recently agreed to take on this project and asks that everyone remember to save all tabs.

Important Meeting Notes: At the business meeting, it was decided that those who are attending the Samboree would prefer not to do the Presidents Breakfast, but would prefer to do some of the other service jobs (donuts, Dr. Sambones, etc.). The Chapter also voted to sponsor Wreaths Across America again this year, and to donate $150. As we need to purchase more logos that are used on vests, Deb and D agreed to check into the cost for these and report back at the next Chapter meeting. Al reported that the December Campout at Lake Oklawaha was set and that the prices would be as quoted. The early bird will be 12/27 - with the campout ending on 1/1/2015. More information will be provided in the next newsletter. Everyone was encouraged to sign up for hosting a weekend and to let Harriet know as soon as possible the date and location you would be hosting.
