Message from the Chair Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce 2016 Board of Directors Happy New Year! May you and yours enjoy health and prosperity as we begin another trip around the sun in 2017. The new year is the perfect time to reflect on what we ve accomplished, where we are today, and our plans for an exciting, bright future. We d like to start by expressing our appreciation to you, the members of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce. We recognize we wouldn t be where we are without the contributions made by each and every one of you. Our commitment to you is stronger than ever and this year, you will see additional benefits, enhanced programs and events, and even more engagement from the staff. Last year was a year of change and transition for the Chamber. As difficult as change can be, it is necessary for continued growth. We want to extend a special thank you to our wonderful staff members, Elisha Everson and Kelly Rotter who have utilized their collective depth of knowledge and expertise to shepherd us through these changes. Additionally, a special thank you goes out to Thomas Lyon who has recently left the Chamber to take on a new role in Development for Sonnenberg Gardens. Thomas will be missed and we wish him well in his new endeavor. As you may know, we are no longer partnering on the city s economic development project. Several major projects in our surrounding area would never have come to fruition without the involvement of the Chamber and for that, we are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to augment the business climate in our community. Randy Farnsworth and Thomas Lyon worked together for the past four years helping to make the project a success. We thank them both for their hard work and dedication. With the changing times, new government and ever-evolving business environment, the Board decided a Chamber restructuring was in order. To that end, we are excited to announce we have begun a professionally facilitated search for a new Executive Director. We have already received several applications and have begun the interview process with plans to have our new ED begin on March 1, 2017. If you know of any candidates you would like to bring to our attention, click here for information. Additionally, we have made the decision to change the titles of the Board members to President, Past President, 1 st Vice President, 2 nd Vice President, and Treasurer to be in line with many other non profit organizations. Previously, the Chamber s staff leader was called the President and will now be known as the Executive Director. I hope to see you all at the 107 th Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Membership Meeting on February 3! The evening promises to be an exciting event as we name the next Mr./Mrs./Ms. Canandaigua. For tickets and more information, click here. So, as I pass my gavel to Lauren Kolb, the incoming President of the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, and move into the role of Past President, I wanted to thank you for a wonderful year and look forward to continuing to work with all of you for many years to come. Next month, Lauren will share some of the exciting projects in store for the Chamber and let you know how you can be a part of our very bright future. Happy to be in your service, 2 P a g e
