Residents Meeting The residents meetings have been well attended. The minutes are available from Lucy. Thank You to Sidney for his help with the minutes. In the meeting the local talking newspaper was on the agenda. I have now contacted them and some residents are receiving this service. The next residents meeting will be on Wednesday 22nd July. Summer Fete 2015 The summer fete will be held on Saturday the 4th July in the afternoon. We will be running the plant and book stall again. The gardening club have been sowing seeds and potting on plants for the stall. If you have any old books to donate please bring them the week before the fete. There will be live music, dancers, refreshments, gifts and craft stalls, tombola, a raffle and much more. Also there will be Nepalese street food and traditional Nepalese dancers. We will be raising money in aid of the Nepalese earthquake appeal.
Windsor Suites outings The first meeting of the summer fete committee was held at Forest lodge garden centre over a cup of tea and some lovely chocolate cake. Forest Lodge has had a refurbishment and is wheelchair friendly, although the card section is a little tight. I would just like to take this opportunity to say that Alan lovell RIP will be sadly missed. All our love and sympathy goes to his family. Alan has always been a member of the gardening club and has helped run the summer fete plant stall. The Country Market has also been rebuilt after a fire. It has good wheelchair access and a good selection of books. The Chawton House Library visit is a must for those more mobile resident s, wheelchair access is available but because it is an old building access is a little difficult.
Happy Birthday TO Brian, Olwen,Alan Gray and Donald Rose
Pony Pals visit Pax hill We had an unusual visitor come to Pax hill, a little pony and his keeper. Residents were able to groom him. The pony visited individual rooms and each lounge on all floors, to everyone s surprise and delight. It was a pleasure to see resident s faces light up when meeting the pony. Pony Pals will be coming in again later on in the year
Easter Colouring Competition The Easter colouring competition was judged by Ann the Montgomery activities coordinator and Pat and Dorothy, residents from Montgomery. Lyn Wright won first prize and was presented with a bunch of flowers. Well Done! Runners up, Gwen and Tony, each won an Easter egg.
Nepalese Earthquake Fundraiser (Barpak) On Saturday 16th May there was an afternoon with a Nepalese flavour and colour. The event was to raise money for the recent earthquake which struck Nepal, causing great devastation to the country and its people. The Mayor of Alton and his wife attended. This being his last event of the term as Mayor of Alton. Over 3000 was raised for the Barpak Charity Foundation. Thank you to everyone for their generosity.
Windsor Suites Activities News Mothers Day flowers, seedlings grown for the plant stall, tulips and daffs given to us by John Smith s RIP daughters and the Easter tree we decorated, gave the Winsor lounge a splash of colour. We made decorations and Easter cards. We were entertained on St Patrick s Day and The Duke on St George s Day. got into swing in Windsor lounge. This was well attended with lots of knitting and sipping. It gave residents a chance to have a good chat with other resident from different units.
