Driving business tourism in Western Australia 2016-2017 Partnership Prospectus

Our Collaborative Success Welcome Members Old and New Welcome to the Perth Convention Bureau s Partnership Prospectus. We continue to see a steady growth in the business events industry, thanks to the collective efforts of our board, staff and industry partners. Events are vital to Western Australia both economically and socially. 2015/2016 saw the research outputs and identification of further high-yield sectors that will drive destination marketing and business development activities. As these sectors have been identified and secured, the resultant high-yield business will, in the short term, address capacity constraints and on-ground costs. In the long term, the strategy will secure delegates that are resilient to varying global financial conditions and continue to position Western Australia as a premium conferencing destination. This high yield delegate focus continues to deliver multiple dividends to Western Australia and industry, and is a strategy attracting substantial attention within the international destination marketing industry. The Perth Convention Bureau s (PCB) success in securing business events has placed it as Australia s leading bureau by many measures. For the current financial year to date, PCB has secured 163 business events resulting in over 200,000 delegate days, and is on target to achieve over 108 million dollars in Direct Delegate Expenditure (DDE). This contribution to the State s economy and your business reflects not only the achievement of the PCB s destination marketing activities in recent years but also the collaborative projects we undertake with our industry partners. As a PCB partner, your investment and support are essential in maintaining this success; through membership, exhibiting at AIME, participating in site inspections/famils, or supporting the many national and international bids that we submit. The strength and expertise of the business tourism sector is the combined result of PCB s successful bidding strategy and a collaborative industry approach to marketing the destination and delivering a world class conference or meeting. The 2016/17 financial year will be the first of the new three year Agreement with Tourism Western Australia and with your support we will continue to enhance Perth and Western Australia s reputation as a premium conference and incentive destination. Welcome members old and new! Members or partners, as we prefer to call you, remain a driving force behind everything we do. As a membership-based organisation, your needs and input remain a high priority for us and we align these needs with our own drivers when formulating the business plan for the year ahead. Every year we undertake a Member Survey aimed at ensuring we provide the best service possible and continue to review our objectives. I am delighted to report that once again the survey results showed your satisfaction with the service we deliver, with our staff achieving an 87% rating. PCB aims to increase its communication and ROI to our members and also continue to provide a flexible benefits package that fits the needs of individual organisations we know that one size doesn t fit all. We will continue to deliver quarterly Membership Tools Workshops which help those who participate to maximise their investment, through a greater understanding of PCB activities. B2B events prove to be a popular activity and PCB always endeavours to showcase new and exciting product in our ever evolving City. Whilst the current economic climate remains challenging, recent investment in new infrastructure and competitive hotel rates provide a perfect platform to market Western Australia. PCB is investing in new collateral to help promote our offering to the market this includes new imagery and a new destination DVD. PCB has over 200 members across WA and we value your contribution. Our mission, and promise to every one of you, is to try and secure the highest return on your investment whilst working collaboratively to achieve our common goal more business events for WA. As Tourism remains in the spotlight with a renewed political focus on our industry, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking you for your past support and I look forward to partnering with you in the future to market WA as the place to hold events.
