The airport experienced positive passenger growth for the 40th consecutive month with respect to the year over year monthly increases. During the first three quarters of 2018, RNO served 3,205,388 passengers, an increase of 5.0% when compared to the same period last year. In September 2018, RNO was served by nine airlines providing 1,824 departures to 20 nonstop destinations (23 nonstop destinations if seasonal flights are included). At RNO, total seat capacity increased 0.3% and flights increased 4.3% when compared to September 2017. RNO, handled 12,052,727 pounds of air cargo in September 2018, a decrease of 3.1% when compared to September 2017. During the first three quarters of 2018, RNO handled 109,539,629 pounds of air cargo, a decrease of 2.9% when compared to the same period last year. Starting November 2, 2018, California Pacific Airlines will begin nonstop flights between Reno and Carlsbad, California. This flight will operate four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The airline will utilize 50seat Embraer 145 aircraft for these flights.

In September 2018, Allegiant Air reported a passenger increase of 60.3%, American Airlines was up 9.4%, Delta Air Lines was up 6.5% and United Airlines reported an increase of 2.2% when compared to September 2017. Alaska Airlines passenger traffic was down 10.9%, Volaris was down 4.3% and JetBlue Airways reported a decrease of 2.1% during the same period. Frontier Airlines served a total of 7,506 passengers during the month of September 2018. Cargo In September 2018, DHL cargo tonnage was up 9.7% and FedEx reported an increase of 2.3% when compared to September 2017. UPS cargo tonnage was down 12.6% during the same period.

Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes American Airlines Starting November 4, 2018, American Airlines will increase the number of daily flights between Reno and Los Angeles from four times a day to five times a day. The airline will return to the four times a day schedule on February 12, 2018. American Airlines temporarily suspended the nonstop seasonal flights between Reno and Chicago O Hare on October 4, 2018. This flight will return on April 2, 2019. Starting August 23, 2018, American Airlines increased the number of nonstop flights between Reno and Phoenix from four times a day to five times a day on select days of the week. The airline returns to the four times a day schedule on January 2, 2019. Delta Air Lines Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Atlanta will operate daily from December 23, 2018, until January 2, 2019. From January 6, 2019, through March 31, 2019, this flight will operate on Sundays only. Delta Air Lines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Minneapolis will operate as a daily service from December 22, 2018, until January 2, 2019. Frontier Airlines Frontier Airlines will suspend the nonstop flights between Reno and Austin on November 12, 2018. This flight operates on Mondays and Fridays. Frontier Airlines nonstop flight between Reno and Denver operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. JetBlue Airways Starting September 8, 2018, JetBlue Airways decreased the number of nonstop flights between Reno and New York City from a daily flight to four days a week. This flight operates on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. This flight will operate daily during the third week of November and from December 13, 2018, until January 7, 2019. United Airlines United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Chicago O Hare was suspended on September 3, 2018. The airline will operate this flight on Saturdays and Sundays from February 16, 2019, until March 3, 2019. United Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Houston operates on Saturdays and Sundays. The airline will offer this flight daily from December 19, 2018, until January 6, 2019, before returning to the weekend schedule.
Recent and Upcoming Schedule Changes Southwest Airlines Southwest Airlines nonstop seasonal flight between Reno and Dallas Love Field will operate on the following schedule: November 17 and 24, 2018 December 21 and 29, 2018 Sundays only from January 13, 2019, until March 3, 2019 Saturday/Sunday only from March 9, 2019, until April 7, 2019 Southwest Airlines temporarily suspended the nonstop daily flights between Reno and Chicago Midway on October 3, 2018. This flight will return on March 7, 2019. Southwest Airlines operates twice a day flights between Reno and Oakland. The airline will offer this flight three times a day on select days of the week during the following periods: From November 5, 2018, until January 4, 2019 From March 7, 2019, until April 7, 2019 During the months of November and December 2018, Southwest Airlines will increase the number of nonstop flights between Reno and San Jose from one flight a day to up to three times a day on select days of the week. Starting January 7, 2019, the airline will offer twice a day service Monday through Friday and once a day service on Saturdays and Sundays. Starting April 8, 2019, Southwest will increase the weekday flights to three times a day. Volaris Volaris offers nonstop flights between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico, twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. From November 19, 2018, until December 12, 2018, Volaris will offer this flight three days a week, (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). From December 13, 2018, until January 3, 2019, Volaris will offer this flight four days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). The airline then returns to the three days a week schedule.
