The President s Corner by Mickey Breunig, President - LMAC I hope everyone had a great flying year. I only wish I had more opportunities to fly. The opportunity to start the year off with a flying day will be the Numb Thumbs fly-in. The Numb Thumbs event will be 10AM January 1st, as it is every year, no matter what kind of weather mother nature throws at us. I ll bring a hot pot of chili and Matt Hanson will grill some hot dogs. Bring out what ever you can fly with shivering fingers and enjoy a fresh start to another good flying year. Hope tosee everyone there. LMAC Swap Meet Report by Joe Woods First, I want to thank everyone who helped with this year's Swap Meet onsaturday, Nov 11. There were about 20 members that turned out at 7:00 am (some at 6:30 am) to arrange the tables at the JackPot Bingo Hall in the Eastland Shopping Center, on November 11. We had our 3 set-up teams. The set-up was easily done by 7:30. Sellers were eager to get into their space and were utilizing the tables as our guys were finishing. The set-up job was quite a bit larger this year because of the large number of tables rented. There were only 8 members for the re-set of the tables at 1:00 pm; so the core group, most of the officers, got a tough workout. We were significantly up in tables rented this year. Last year, 56 tables were rented, this year a record 90 tables were rented. We were up $352 for table rental. Buyer s fees were up $26 from last year; but donations were down $225 and expenses were down resulting in overall profit of $1433 which was up $179 from last year. Comparing to the 10 year average; profits increased by $311. Last year, we were fortunate that Steve Campanelli donated 4 tables of planes and accessories that brought in a record level of donation dollars. This year, donations were $160 ahead of the 10 year average. Thank you to all who donated items and special thanks to Pete Adanick for the nice planes and other items from his collection. Lester Ware again managed the sales of the donated items he did a great job! To try to hold the buyers, we continued the "Door Prize" presentation like last year. Tower Hobbies donated four $25 gift certificates again this year. Four drawings took place during the meet. Winners must be present to win. The Raffle item was a TACTIC TTX610 2.4 GHz Transmitter and Receiver system, donated by Hobbico. It was won by Wendell Gabbard, a new LMAC member from McKee, KY. This nice donation saved us the expense of purchasing a Raffle item. Thank you, Tower Hobbies and Hobbico. I welcome any suggestions as to how we could have a better Swap Meet. Any ideas of how to get more buyers to attend would be appreciated. I saw a number of our LMAC members with nice purchases. I hope toget a larger member attendance next year. 4

Blast from the Past by David Price This series of articles will present advertisements from vintage modeling magazines. The intent is to illustrate technological advances that have taken place in our hobby. For some, it will bring back memories, for newcomers it will present a piece of history of radio control model aviation. Here is an advertisement from the December 1973 issue of Model Builder for Heath radios. Yes, you had to build the radios. Happy Holidays! 5
