EAST SIDE STORY Mongolia with a sidecar 10 DAYS INCLUDING 8 DAYS RIDING FULL BOARD MEALS

HIGHLIGHTS The very first adventure trip with Royal Enfield sidecars in Mongolia A charming motorcycle and sidecar specially designed for off-road and tested in the Himalaya Wide open spaces: Mongolian steppes, sand dunes, hilly forests of the Orhon Discovery of the nomadic lifestyle: nights with the locals TRIP: Adventure tour I Demanding level RIDERS PROFILE: Experimented riders who are physically fit 50% roads and 50% tracks Between 5 and 6h riding per day Type of accommodation: Standard WEATHER CONDITIONS: Uncertain I Risk of rain ROYAL ENFIELD 500CC WITH SIDECAR CS: On this trip, 4 Royal Enfield 2010 of our own fleet will be equipped with Yeti sidecars, specially designed for off-road with Royal Enfields. THE Royal Enfields: All our motorbikes are fitted with the gearshift on the left hand side, with first gear at the bottom. Monocylindre. Comfortable saddle with backrest. The motorcycles are equipped with a "house" tank of 19 liters (convenient for long stages). Our bikes are refurbished every season. SIDECARS CS CONCEPT Yeti: The Yeti and its steel case is the "Swiss Army knife" of sidecars. It is a hand-stitched sidecar for adventure, tested in the Himalayas in 2014.

DESIGNED BY Baptiste, WITH Jean Burdet s participation A sidecar on the roof of the world The Royal Enfield and sidecar have proved themselves on the roof of the world in 2014 - the project is finally realized... in the land of blue sky. Baptiste has been an active member of an association promoting cultural exchanges between France and Mongolia for several years. Magnified by "The Big East", it s after several trips where he stays in Russia and Mongolia that he decides to settle in the land of blue sky, where he now lives all year round as a motorcycle escort for Vintage Rides. Passionate about this country and its culture, he now rides the steppes on the handlebars of his Bullet. ''Easy and efficient, this no-frills motorcycle is naturally a queen of the steppes, it makes it possible to discover Mongolia.'' Jean Burdet, sidecar creator for more than 30 years, first crossed Europe with his children. Little by little, he starts enjoying adventure and crosses the borders as far as Asia. He meets Vintage Rides teams in India and together they launch a major project: A sidecar on the roof of the world. A sidecar on the roof of the world is Jean and his son s crazy project to travel the Himalayas and cross the highest peak of the world with a sidecar harnessed to a Royal Enfield. To meet the challenge, he manufactures a sidecar specially designed for off-road.

LOGISTICS AND ORGANIZATION The team on spot is composed of a tour leader, a mechanic and a driver for the support vehicle, ideal for personal and group luggage, mechanical parts and any passengers who have the option of choosing between the motorcycle or the comfort of the assistance vehicle. Your tour leader is a confirmed english-speaking biker who knows well the regions we visit. He ensures the smooth running of the tour and manages the coordination of the support team, mechanic and driver. The tour leader is not a substitute for a cultural guide, so take your Backpacker, Lonely Planet, or better of your guide Olizane, the bible of travel guides in Asia! TO ENSURE A COMFORTABLE TRIP, EACH GROUP HAS A MAXIMUM OF 8 BIKES.

AT A GLANCE This 10 day itinerary takes us into the heart of the steppe, the foothills of the Khangai massif, the hills of Orhon valley and to the Khogno Khan Dunes. We discover Central Mongolia in all its diversity. A stage in a guest yurt allows us to share with the very warm nomadic peoples. The horseback day takes us into their everyday habits. Feeling of intense freedom. This itinerary has been designed to make a motorcycle adventure in Mongolia accessible to as many people as possible. If certain stages can be tiring, we have thought about the days of breaks needed to regain strength. Crossing Mongolia on a motorcycle is an unforgettable experience. The raucous sound of our mounts intrigues the nomads and makes the contact easy and warm. On this route we spend 5% of our time on beautiful small roads, the rest on tracks crossing the immense Mongolian steppes. The rhythms of the stages have been adjusted in such a way that one or two more difficult days are followed by a possible resting morning. However, Mongolia is a highland country with sometimes uncertain rains that can make the circuit more difficult. Some ford-crossings are to be expected. Strong weather could cause a change in our itinerary.

MAP

Stage 1: Arrive in Ulan Bator You're met at the airport then transferred to your hotel. Unguided tour of the city. Diner at your choice. Ulan Bator (1350 m) is located in the valley of the river Tuul, flowing to the south. The city extends nearly 30 km from West to East and 15 km from North to South. Ulan Bator, with its one million inhabitants, is composed of 9 districts (or districts). In the city center, some places offer a very mixed architecture, where the Soviet heritage meets the chaotic and warm urbanism of the big cities of Asia. A city of contrasts in which you can stroll on horseback, meet nomadic families, taste refined dishes, or relax in a luxurious Spa on the same day. STAGE 2: Oulan Bator > Dashinchilen 220 Km - 5/6h riding After an early breakfast we meet up with our tour leader, then time for the big departure! After a private vehicle journey of about 30 km, we meet with bikes. We take a superb road through the steppe, with mountain backdrop. We cross flocks of sheep, cows, goats. From time to time, an eagle awaits us on a roadside pylon, flying off as we approach. We cross flocks of sheep, cows, goats. Sometimes an eagle awaits us on a roadside pestle to take off on our approach. Night in the village's only guest house, simple and clean - a room is already a luxury!

STAGE 3: Dashinchilen > Ogii Nuur 140 Km 4/5h riding We set off this morning on a beautiful road through the steppe, before riding on a small, unpredictable trail - a dash of adventure before reaching the yurt camp on the shores of Ogii Nuur Lake, nestled at the foot of the mountains. Arrival in the beginning of the afternoon. Free time, to have a walk near the lake or rest in the yurt. Night at the camp. STAGE 4: Ogii Nuur > Tsenher 140 Km - 5/6h riding An early start by Ogii Nur Lake, offering a superb viewpoint. We ride along a trail through the heart of the steppe, which stretches endlessly ahead. At first pristine, then dotted with a few nomads' yurts, the trail enters hillier terrain as we reach our yurt camp. An early-evening soak in the hot springs will be much appreciated. Night at the camp.

STAGE 5: Tsenher > Orhon Valley 100 Km - 4/5h riding The trail leads us into the heart of the Orkhon River Valley, and the landscapes become ever more mountainous. The steppe gradually changes into the rolling scenery of the volcanic Khangai Mountains. We arrive in mid-afternoon at our hosts' place, near the Orkhon Falls. Night at the camp. We discover all the charm of nomadic life. 3 to 4 people per yurt. STAGE 6: Orhon Valley 50 Km - 4/5h riding This morning, we leave our bikes and sidecars back at base, and explore the steppe. With several guides, we go horse-riding in one of the country's most beautiful valleys - an unforgettable experience. In mid-afternoon, back in the saddle for a 90-minute cruise through the valley. Night at the camp.

STAGE 7: Orhon Valley > Qaraqorum 100 Km - 5/6h riding In early morning, we climb onto our Royal Enfields and ride straight north to the ancient capital of Gengis Khan's empire, on superb trails then a smooth asphalt road. Night at the camp. STAGE 8 : Qaraqorum > Khogno Khan 110 Km 2h riding The marmots among you can enjoy a lie-in! The other ones can go visit the archeological museum and the city s temple. After lunch, we take an asphalt road to the dunes of Khogno Khan. The winds coming off the steppe convey the sand to the foot of the mountains - a place known as "Little Gobi''. Night at the camp.

STAGE 9: Khogno Khan > Oulan Bator 290 Km 5h riding We ride the road to Ulan Bator - a superb ribbon of asphalt along the desert plain, then the steppe. One last day immersed in these mind-blowing landscapes. We reach the capital at day's end. Transfer at the hotel. Free evening. STAGE 10 : Oulan Bator > Airport A free day for those with a late flight. We'll savour the unique atmosphere of the capital, both rough and warmly welcoming. Ulan Bator won't leave you cold. Transfer to the airport by private vehicle. End of our services. Yurt camps are often the best places to spend the night. We share two or three beautiful traditional yurts, identical to the ones we meet during the day. The charm of these tents largely compensates for their basic comfort: two single beds, a stove. We have a shared bathroom where we can most often take a warm shower - clean European toilets.
