Make sure you have an updated roster which gives you phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Let s make an effort to not go completely dark. The future will be up to us. Recently, the FMCA Executive Board voted unanimously to recommend changes in our official documents to the FMCA Governing Board. This July, the Board will be voting on a proposal which would remove the motorhome ownership requirement for FMCA membership, allowing all RV owners to join. If it passes, the entire membership will be asked to vote in September. Ultimately, this change is going to be up to us the members. As stated in a recently received letter from Charlie Adcock, FMCA President, FMCA is not about the equipment; it s about the people. If you are planning to hit the road this summer please drive safely and make sure everything is in proper order; plus, check to see if you have your FMCA card in your rig. It gives you great peace of mind knowing the benefits you have with that card. Stay in touch! I will miss everyone, so see you in September. (Sounds like a song I ve heard.) Ed Speakman
Ed gave the bonehead to Walt for not seeing his wife when she was sitting right in front of him. Walt gave the bonehead to George for dropping the ribs he was barbequing into the coals and hoped no one would see what he did. Has anyone seen a vegetarian in the house? BTW, this is the grill George earned his bonehead award on! Betty Nicoles To carb or not to carb? page 2

The men were sent away with hanging heads after getting beaten by the Chapters all women s team. The score is not worth repeating, what a humiliation. Weather Forecast for Oktoberfest: Sunny, warm, perfect, loads of fun, events, food, music, and games all with great people! page 4
Hospitality Ann McDaniel She has completed her chemo and they plan to join us again in the fall. We will likely see Allyn and Joy Smith also, as Joy is stronger and ready to start camping. Bettie Edwards is changing chemo, working toward cutting edge surgery, hopefully soon. Lefty Jamora is doing very well with his bionic knee. Terry Glenn, in April, went on oxygen, and is back to his ole self. Monika LeGrone has had throat and vocal chords stretched and is considering corrective surgery on her wrist. Joan Flickinger is looking very healthy. All of us seem to have aches and pains, but it seems like camping with friends makes it so much better!! Sarah Speakman page 5
Was that an Ace of Clubs or and Eight Of Clubs? Hello Mr. Tree, my name is Jesse! The winners are certainly happy, the losers well, they can t be found. page 6
Wagonmaster s Chronicle RV Rally Venue Update The following properities have been checked out either over the phone or with a visit and this is an update on the exercise of finding a few new properities where we may want to have a rally. Orange Grove RV Park (Bakersfield) Received pamphlet from Bill Johnson who has stayed at the facility in the past. Initial discussions; 10 rigs or more $33/night. The clubhouse called The Barn rents for $100 for the duration of our visit. Other features; laundry/restrooms, BBQ pavilion, pool, country store, free wifi, mostly pull thru slots. This park sets in an orange grove and guests are allowed to pick oranges. This RV park appears to be a possible option. Rancho Oso (Santa Barbara Thousand Trails) Somewhat isolated east of Santa Barbara in the mountains. More of a horse campground than a regular RV resort. There is no clubhouse and we would not be parked together according to the manager. Did not get pricing at the time. Mission Bay RV Resort (San Diego) Stopped by and looked at the resort and the clubhouse. The RV park is in reality one large blacktop parking lot with some trees. The clubhouse especially the cooking area was not clean nor well equipped. The hardest thing for us would have been the rate of $61.88 per day parking fee. That was what the rate would be in Sept 2018. Catalina RV Park (Palm Desert) Good rates quoted of $27.50 per night. This included the clubhouse which will include cooking facilities. There is a huge amount of work taking place at the park right now. The work is scheduled to be complete by Nov 01 this year. Because the new clubhouse does not currently exist I could not review that. A contract has been signed for March 2018. Bring your bathing suits as they have a hot spa fed by their own mineral wells. I do have several pictures available if anyone is interested. Flying Flags RV Resort (Buelton, CA) A couple of our members have stayed at this park and thought it might be a good place to go for a rally. The park is undergoing some renovation and the clubhouses are not available until 90 days from date of rally because they won t know exactly where they are with the renovation. No rates were quoted for these rooms, but we were offered an couple of options that were out of our price range. This park will be looked at again next year. Pala Casino RV Resort (Pala, CA) I visited this facility for the second time. It is a new and clean park that is somewhat void of any shade. The rate quoted was $48.60 per night and we would have to pay an additional $75 for the use of the clubhouse. The space rent does not include pet fees which are collected individually when checking in ($5 per pet) The real problem is this language in the contract;.a Club member manifest 30 days prior as well as full payment listed on the Folio. This means we pay in full for all attendees 30 days out. That just won t work. Rallies Booked 2018 The following rallies are either in process or facilities are scheduled. February, 2018 will be a joint rally with BTO at the Riverside RV Resort in Laughlin, NV. We are working with BTO at this time to get all the details in place. March, 2018 Catalina RV Park and Spa - Desert Hot Springs April, 2018 The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course Borrego Springs May, 2018 Golden Village Palms RV Resort - Hemet September, 2018 OPEN October, 2018 Oktoberfest at the Golden Village Palms November, 2018 Chula Vista RV Resort Trailbosses As of the November meeting in Chula Vista, I will no longer be the Wagonmaster for the CA Chapter. I ve decided to call it quits as I have too many other things I am working on. Please folks, we need volunteers to help out. Step up and help Ed by volunteering as trailboss for some of these rallies in 2018. page 7
