Adventure Leader Description: Every Furthest Frontiers Expedition trip has English speaking tour leaders. These tour leaders have been selected and trained to lead your group throughout your adventure. They have extensive local knowledge and are there to assist you in your travels and make your experience well beyond just satisfactory. Solo Traveling Solo Sharing: At Furthest Frontiers Expeditions, we offer options for single travelers joining a group. We simply believe that just because you are traveling solo, you should not have to pay more. We have an option we like to call solo sharing. Instead of having to pay more for your own room, we will pair you up with a roommate of the same sex. By doing this, you save paying a single supplemental fee. For single travelers who are not interested in the solo sharing option, we, also, offer comfortable private rooms for an additional price. Please feel free to ask us about room arrangements because we look forward to finding the perfect accommodation for you during your trip. Starting Point Joining Instructions: After arrival at the airport, look for the private driver with the Furthest Frontiers Expeditions sign. He will take you to the starting hotel. If you arrive late, you can arrange a taxi, or call the office. We care about you and your schedule. If you arrive before or after the tour begins, we will do our best to assist you. Be sure to notify the Furthest Frontiers office of any schedule changes that will affect your tour with us. El Tambo I www.eltamboperu.com Avenida La Paz 720, Miraflores, Lima +525112000100 Emergency Contact: In the event of an unforeseen emergency, notify your tour leader. Laundry Laundry facilities are offered by some hotels for a charge. Visas All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum six months validity). Please take a look at the U.S. State Department s website at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/international-travel- Country-Information-Pages/Peru.html It is your responsibility to make sure you have the proper entry documents. Please call Furthest Frontiers Expeditions in regards to any questions at 1-844-637-9424. Money Money Exchange The currency in Peru is the Nuevo Sol (PEN). Please check out www.xe.com for current exchange rates. Before making any decisions with cash or credit/debits cards, we recommend consulting your bank. Please notify your credit card company that you will be traveling internationally. You will have to tell them where you will be traveling and what dates you will be out of the country to ensure that your card will work while overseas. Visa cards are most commonly accepted, but there is always a chance that your card will not work outside of your home country. Traveler s Cheques are not widely accepted. When traveling abroad, we recommend using a combination of US dollars and cards as fees and ATM availability can affect your card usage. No matter how much you think you need for the tour, always bring a little extra. We 8

would rather you have the extra funds and not need them than need the money and not have it. Emergency Funds In case of unforeseen emergencies, such as a natural disaster we strongly recommend you make an extra $500 available just as a precaution. It is extremely rare for the emergency funds to be needed, but we recommend having them nonetheless. Tipping Tipping is expected in Latin America just as it is in the United States. However, depending on service, 10% is sufficient. For those helping you on your tour, it is a validation of their hard work and service to you. When it comes to your trekking guides and other groups, tipping is recommended. We have provided an average guideline for your group to adhere to if you wish to use it. However, the amount you decide to tip is entirely up to you. Average Tipping Tour Leader: $15 USD per day Local Step on Guides: $8 USD per day Salcantay Trek Horseman with your bags $20 USD total for trek Cook $30 USD total for trek Health Medical care is generally good in Lima and usually adequate in major cities but less so elsewhere in Peru. Private, urban health care facilities are often better staffed and equipped than public or rural ones. Public facilities in Cusco are generally inadequate for serious medical conditions. Visitors to popular Andean destinations such as Cusco/Machu Picchu, Arequipa/Colca Canyon or Puno/Lake Titicaca often suffer from altitude-related illness The following diseases are prevalent in some parts of Peru: Dengue Diarrheal disease Malaria 9

Rabies Yellow fever Zika Vaccinations: Be up-to-date on all vaccinations recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please visit the CDC s website for Peru at https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/peru If you have any questions, please feel free to call Furthest Frontiers Expeditions at 1-844-637-9424. We make a great effort to understand and analyze situations in different countries and how those situations could affect our groups. We work closely with our local partners to monitor events, as well as, establishing protocols which are in place to address any situation that could arise. Please visit the U.S. State Department for further information at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/international- Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Peru.html If you have any questions, please feel free to call Furthest Frontiers Expeditions at 1-844-637-9424. General Travel Rules You must, at all times, comply with the laws, customs, foreign exchange and drug regulations of all countries visited. Furthest Frontiers has tour leaders that run group tours. The decision of the tour leader and/or Furthest Frontiers is final on all matters likely to affect the safety of any traveler or staff member participating in the tour. If you fail to comply with a decision of a tour leader or, otherwise, interfere with the wellbeing of the group, the tour leader may instruct you to leave the tour immediately with no right to refund. If you wish, you can even have a representative call you to talk about your tour and listen to any feedback you wish to provide. Newsletter Notes from Afar is the bi-monthly newsletter from Furthest Frontiers Expeditions. We give insights on our chosen destinations, talk about the industry of adventure and share special deals or events we have coming up. Travel Forum Online Face Book Groups will be made available upon booking your tour with us. This gives you an opportunity to get to know your group before the tour begins. This is meant to help build camaraderie and trust between group members. Minimum Age Unless otherwise indicated in the Tour description, you must be at least 18 years old to participate in any tour operated by Furthest Frontiers. International Flights Tour prices do not include international or other airfare unless expressly stated in the tour s descriptions. Furthest Frontiers does not sell airfare directly. You have the option to choose how and where you purchase your airfare tickets, or you may use the partnership established between Furthest Frontiers and AirTreks. Please visit the Furthest Frontiers AirTreks site at https://www.airtreks.com/citylistbuilder/partners.php?ref=furthestfrontiers&r EQTYPE=BIZDEV or by calling AirTreks at 1-415-977-7114 or if you have any questions please contact Furthest Frontiers at 1-844-637-9424.
