ITINERARY DAY 1: NAIROBI - LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK On arrival in Nairobi you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Lake Naivasha National Park, where the remainder of the day is free to enjoy at your leisure. DAY 2: LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK Loldia Ranch on the edge of Lake Naivasha is home to a variety of big game including lion and leopard as well as a variety of nocturnal animals such as aardvark, bat-eared fox and long tailed mongoose. Hippo are often seen feeding on the ranch at night when the cooler conditions allow them to leave the lake. A variety of activities can be enjoyed during a stay here including day and night game drives on Loldia Ranch, guided walks along the lake shore and boat trips on Lake Naivasha. (B,L,D) DAY 3: LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK The lodge also supports the nearby Loldia School and a trip here is a great chance to see the inspiring work that they are doing with local school children. If you are looking to explore further afield, there are day trips to Lake Nakuru to see flamingos, excursions to the Hell's Gate National Park as well as trips to Lake Bogoria and even the chance to climb nearby Mount Longnot. (B,L,D) DAY 4: LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK - MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE Departing Lake Naivasha after breakfast this morning you fly on to the famed landscapes of the Maasai Mara, surely one of Africa's most dramatic and spectacular wildlife areas. On arrival you will be driven to your camp by way of a short game drive, reaching there in time for lunch and a chance to spend the afternoon relaxing before heading out later on an early evening game drive. (B,L,D) DAY 5: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE Guests staying at Little Governor's Camp benefit from the easy access that the camp has to some of the best game viewing areas of the Maasai Mara. The game is especially abundant in the period between June and October when the herds of the Great Migration pass through the area surrounding the camp and you may be lucky enough to witness one of the chaotic river crossings. DAY 6: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE Outside of game drives, you may wish to take part in other activities for an additional fee. Visit a local Maasai village and community project, go on a guided bush walk, delight in bush meals, as well as sundowner drinks. The lodge offers hot air ballooning across the plains of the Mara for a wonderful perspective on the area you have been exploring by vehicle. (B,L,D) DAY 7: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE - LAMU ARCHIPELAGO Transferring to the airstrip after breakfast you will fly back to Nairobi this morning, to connect with an onward flight to Malindi Airport on Kenya's southeastern coast. A short drive from the airport then brings you to your boat transfer. You will travel across the Indian Ocean to Lamu Island where you will spend your final few nights enjoying the azure waters and white sand beaches of the Lamu Archipelago. A former Arab trading post, Lamu still retains something of the exotic character of its rich heritage, when the lateen-rigged dhows sailed across the Indian Ocean from India and Arabia, laden with spices. (B,L,D) DAY 8: LAMU ARCHIPELAGO Peponi Hotel is set within Shella village on Lamu Island, only two degrees south of the Equator. After the early mornings and activities of the past few days, Lamu presents the perfect place to relax and unwind. Your hotel boasts a wonderfully appointed pool, superb food and direct access to the soft sands. The coral reefs and mangrove forests of the archipelago allow for fantastic snorkelling and diving, whilst the sandy shoreline boasts turtle nesting grounds protected by the Lamu Marine Conservation Trust - discover the amazing conservation work carried out here. (B,D) DAY 9: LAMU ARCHIPELAGO There are a number of interesting villages and local markets close to the hotel, which provide ideal opportunities for some last minute mementos and souvenirs. Of course, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the facilities around the hotel and a relaxing sundowner at the bar provides the perfect way to round off a day at the beach. (B,D) DAY 10: LAMU ARCHIPELAGO If you are looking to step up the action a bit, your final day in Lamu provides an opportunity to try out some new experiences, with an excellent kite surfing school on hand and Dhow boat trips out into the dazzling waters of the Indian Ocean. Fishing is also a popular activity here. There are numerous festivals throughout the year from fishing competitions to yoga and religious festivals. (B,D)
DAY 11: LAMU - NAIROBI Following breakfast this morning, you will be transferred off the island for your flight back to Nairobi for your onward travels. (B)
ACCOMMODATION LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK LOLDIA HOUSE Nestled away in a grove of acacia trees overlooking the gently lapping waters of Lake Naivasha, Loldia House is a wonderfully traditional old ranch house and the ideal spot from which to explore this diverse and scenic part of Kenya. There are nine rooms at Loldia House, with four found in the main house and the other five split between 2 cottages in the grounds. All of the bedrooms are en-suite with flush loos and hot and cold running water. For those looking for a more adventurous feel to their accommodation one of the cottage bedrooms has an outdoor bathroom. The main house has a very colonial feel to it, with a shaded veranda running down one side of the house. The spacious dining room is ideal for long dinners with fellow guests and the cozy lounge with open fireplace makes for a great place to relax after dinner. Lunches are often enjoyed out in the sprawling gardens beneath the shade of a giant fig tree and there is a lovely drinks spot set overlooking the lake. A variety of activities can be enjoyed during a stay here including day and night game drives on Loldia Ranch, guided walks along the lake shore, boat trips on Lake Naivasha as well as day trips to Lake Nakuru and the Hell s Gate National Park. MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE LITTLE GOVERNOR'S CAMP Set overlooking a water hole close to the Mara River, Little Governor s Camp is accessible only by boat from its sister camp which helps to give a wonderful sense of adventure to any stay here. This traditional tented camp is a wonderful addition to any Kenyan safari. There are 17 spacious safari tents at the camp, all of which are en-suite with flush loos, hot and cold running water and full amenities are provided. The tents are very comfortable inside with small writing desks whilst the outside decking areas are a great spot to relax in a comfy chair and enjoy the views out across the bush. The main mess area is another great spot to relax with a good book in the afternoons and staff are always on hand to serve drinks in the cozy bar. Meals are enjoyed either in the dining tent or out under the stars and for those looking to enjoy something extra special bush breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be arranged on request for an additional cost. Game drives are the main activity on offer from the camp but they are also able to arranged guided walks, visits to local Maasai villages and community projects as well as, for an extra fee, sunrise hot air balloon safaris over the endless plains of the Maasai Mara.
