Attractions to Visit at Cedar Point By Sean Lordo When the 8 th graders go on their field trip, there will be many rides that they will want to go on at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World, Cedar Point. First, Cedar Point has come out with a brand new ride, the Pipe Scream. The Pipe Scream s cart spins around on 300 feet of track and moves back and forward much like the Cosmic Chaos. Second, the GateKeeper just came out last year and is already very popular all around the world. The Gatekeeper has a cart where the riders hang out of the sides of the cart in what is called a wing ride. Next is the Mantis, a ride in which the riders stand up and go through many flips throughout the ride. The Raptor is one of Cedar Points most popular rides in which the rider s legs hang out of the ride while they swing and flip through the entire ride. Next is the highest roller coaster in the world, the Top Thrill Dragster. The Top Thrill Dragster goes 120 mph up 415 feet in 3.8 seconds. Last, is the ride that won the award for best roller coaster in the world for four years straight, the Millennium Force. The Millennium Force starts out with an incline of 310 feet then drops 300 feet and is the fastest roller coaster in the park, being Cedar Point s main attraction. As you can see, when the eighth graders go to Cedar Point, they ll clearly see why it won the award for being the best roller coaster in the world for sixteen years straight. GODZILLA By Evan Kuntz The new movie is now out in theaters! The movie is based on a mythical creature named Godzilla. Studies show that Godzilla would need 215,000,000 calories a day for enough energy. He is probably 355 feet tall and pretty long! Summer Reading By Carli Walker Whenever people describe what they plan to do over the summer they always talk about vacations. Almost everyone takes a vacation over the summer. Does anyone though talk about the great books they are going to be reading this summer? No, not really. Sometimes people complain that they don t have time to read. School is almost over though and we will have all the time you could possible need to just sit and read. Reading is fun. For one, it takes you places. Two, reading realistic or fantasy books can be educational. Reading books can also help you become a better writer. Therefore, this summer I challenge everyone to find a good book and dig into it! Wolfenstein:The New Order By Alex Schultheis Nazis, robots, and glorious dumb fun, oh my! It doesn't play like Wolfenstein, and it barely feels like Wolfenstein, but maybe that's a good thing this is the best entry the franchise has seen in years. Let's go over what Wolfenstein: The New Order is not. It's not a twitch shooter, so fans of classic Wolfenstein beware. It's also not really a modern shooter. It's also not a World War II shooter, at least for most of the game. It's also not a game that cares one instant whether you think the gaming medium needs to strive towards "art."here's what it is: Glorious. Utterly glorious. Summer's right around the corner, and The New Order could not come at a better time. I'm in the mood for explosions, and Wolfenstein has that in spades. Wolfenstein: The New Order throws you back in the well-worn shoes of one William "B.J." Blazkowicz. Blazkowicz is looking good, considering that in video games terms he is ancient. Twenty-two years on and the poor guy's still stuck fighting Nazis. The game opens with BJ and the boys making one last assault against General Wilhelm Strasse's compound cut off the head of the snake. And, because it's Wolfenstein, Strasse's compound is a gigantic castle. Then you get hit in the head by shrapnel and are in a coma for 14 years. The war is won, but the Nazis were the victors. It's not Wolfenstein, but it so, so is. If you're only coming to Wolfenstein for an old-school, twitch-shooting experience, stay away. This game is not the game you want. This game is Modern Warfare in a crazy Nazi Castle setting. Forget Citizen Kane. This is the melting pot of video games. If you're the type of person who quotes Schwarzenegger oneliners, finds something inherently funny about robot dogs, and (maybe) put Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on your Game of The Year list last year, then yeah you should pick up Wolfenstein: The New Order.
