Chapter Directors Do you know what time of the year it is? Louisiana State Rally time. April 12,13,14. Woop Woop. Carol and I will be going on a cruise that week, so we won't be able to make it. (The cruise has been planned by my daughter back in April last year, so we could save up for it.) Chapter H will be doing pre-registion on the 12 th at 12:00 noon tell 5pm, after that our duty is done. Our Louisiana Rally is always a lot of fun. Red and Brenda and there staff have always planned a fun and interesting rally, and I'm sure they will do it again this year. Have fun. Before the rally we will be putting on a C.P.R. And First Aid course at Bob Ford's on April 7 th. I think there will be four of us going. After the rally we have a ride on April 28, more on that ride later. If you have a ride in mine let me know and we'll plan it. On April 2 nd we will be going to Chapter K for our dinner ride. We will meet at Big Wheels and leave at 5pm, that will give us time to eat before their meeting starts. Try to make it if you can. Bob walked away with all the winnings last night,he won the 50/50 & Blue Ball and one of the door prizes. I told him to go get a power ball ticket. Good luck Bob. Let's have fun this year and be safe when riding. Chapter Director John & Carol Cambre P -2

Chapter Ride Coordinators Hello Fellow Riders Well our job as Rider Educator is no more, Headquarters has changed its thinking on what is important in helping train it members how to be safe while riding a motorcycle. It will be up to you to check the Rider Ed Data Base to see what your status is and to see what you need either to stay current or to move up in the program. We still think that everyone still needs training just to stay safe out there on the highways and back roads. We need seminars like Team Riding, Road Captain, Co-Riders, Riding Hills & Mountains just to name a few to help keep us safe on the bike. So if you get a chance to take any or all of the seminars available thru GWRRA Training take them, the information just might save a life, yours or your co-rider. Like I said at the beginning of this article this is our last Rider Ed Article but we have accepted a new role in the Chapter Teams ranks, it is the Ride Coordinators. We look forward to making some nice rides in the coming months, so if you have any ideas for a ride just talk to us about it and we will see if we can make it happen. We had the first ride on March 10 th to Not Your Mama s in Livonia. LA. Although everyone likes to eat we will try and do rides with more than eating involved. We will work up rides with plantations, museums, festivals and other things to do & see. Stay cool/warm and remember, practice what you have learned. Merlin & Beverly Mayon P-5

You know it only been just a few years that I have been working with a computer and I thought I would never be dependent on one. Boy was I wrong, when we were District Directors it was a way to communicate with everyone in the District and keep abreast of what was happening from National and back then with Region. We are not Directors of any kind so I thought I would just play games or write a few e-mails to friends with my computer. That was fine until I raised my hand again and volunteered to be the newsletter editor for my chapter Chapter H. I not very good at writing articles or story but I do try. So back to this thing they call a computer, it never does what I want it to do and when I hit the wrong key everything disappears and I spend hours trying to find it. Just about the time I think I got it figured out it ups and breaks down. Oh by the way that why this newsletter is over a week late, my little friend here spent 13 days in the shop being worked on. $200 later it s fixed and hopefully it will work for a good long time. If I forgot to put something in here blame the computer for making wait so long to update the newsletter. Chapter H s Newsletter Editor Merlin Mayon P-7

Chapter H s March News The first Monday night dinner ride was on March 5 th and Bob took us to Big Mike BBQ in Thibodeaux. I must say that the food is just as good in Thibodeau as in Houma. There were 9 people there and 8 were members. The several of us had the pull pork sandwich and it was quiet tasty but I liked the look of the BBQ baked potato that Bob & Jackie had. Beverly s & Warren s combo platter was mighty tempting too. Next time I won t know what to order. Under cloudy skies our March 10 th ride met at my house, 3 vechicles and 2 more bikes. There were 10 people, 9 of which were Chapter members and 1 snowbird from Minnisota, James Lemmerman. He and his wife come down south in early spring to to start their riding season. It always nice to have a non active member (Hershal Slaton) join us, maybe he will do it more often. Because it was raining in Houma everyone from there showed up in vechicles and as I said it was cloudy at my house but I ashored them that it wasn t going to rain on my parade. We made it to Not Your Momma s under cloudy skies and sunny skies with no rain. Food was good but I found them a little expensive for my taste. After we ate it was like when you turn on the lights in a room and all the roaches scatter, John, Carol & Bob went to Baton Rouge to visit relatives, Rickey & Sybil went shopping and Smitty went to Port Allen to visit friends leaving Hershal, James, Beverly and me(the 3 bikes) to ride back home. Round trip was but 158 miles but it was with no rain, as I said in the begining it don t rain on my parade(at least this time).lol On March 16 th the Hwy 1 Ride started in Grand Isle with 12 bikes and about 20 people(i didn t count them) headed north. Red, Brenda, Fritz and me waited for them in Leeville to joined in making it 15 bikes. We traveled to Cut Off to McDonalds for the first stop. After leaving there we headed to Hwy 24 to go catch some other back roads to make it to the noon stop at Big Mikes BBQ in Houma. From here we made our way to Hwy 1 again to continue north. I rode to Napoleanville then left the group and went home. Bob And Rickey stayed with the group to make the whole trip to the Louisianna/Arkansas border. I don t know who lies the most Smitty or the weatherman, they both said 80% chance of rain Saturday morning cause me to stay home, boy was the Smitty and the weatherman wrong again no rain fell or Sunday. Bob had a little bad luck aroud Shreveport, he had a plugged fuel filter then later on he had rear tire blow out. He did make home safely in his truck with bike in tow. On March 19 th Monday Night Dinner Ride Smitty took to Sam s in Bayou Vista for some great food as usual. Warren called me PawPaw so many times the waitress started call me Paw Paw, of course that got a laugh out of everyone. CPR/First Aid class scheduled for April 7 th at Bob house at 9am, if interested let me know, we have 4 members in need of the class to stay current. Chapter gathering report as following: Lucky Bob won the 50/50 plus the Blue Ball Game and a door prize. Mr Warren managed to win a door prize out from under Bob.. The Progressive Dinner Ride is fast approaching, and we need help. The Chapter need to step up and volunteer to help cook the meals in advance, collect door prizes, assist with the ride planning just to mention a few thing that need to happen P-11

District Directors & Leadership Trainers Hello Wingers, Well this is it, the last newsletter article that Brenda and I will write. It s been a short four years; we ve enjoyed all of it, spending time with our Louisiana District Members. We have had a great time at all the Rallies, Chapter gathering, fun days and training with everyone. At this time we have no idea who the next Directors will be, no info has been passed on to us at this time. We re hoping any day now, the new names will be given to us and we ll pass them on to you. We ll not go away; we will still be active and continuing to make GWRRA Events. We ll be making 20 years with GWRRA in August of 2019, seems like yesterday that had joined this great ride. We will see all of you great family members at the District Rally on April 12 th, 13 th and 14th of April. We hope all are planning to attend; it looks to be a good one as usual. We want to thank all the members and all of the Team members for helping make it easy of us to party with you. P-13

It does not have to be perfectly written by a professional writer just by a rider or co-rider. If you have pictures share them too with me for the newsletter or Rickey for the website. RIDE SAFE P-16
