Nestled high in the Andes at 2620 m. (8646 ft), Bogotá, or Santafé de Bogotá to give it its full title, is a city of contrasts, with high-rise buildings standing next to colonial churches, museums and artisan cafés. Its influences range from Spanish and English to Indian. It is a city of wild traffic and calm oases reflecting a bygone era. N/A Day 2 Leticia Meals Leticia Breakfast, transfer to airport. Flight to Leticia where you will be met by a Travel The Unknown representative. Free time to explore Leticia at your leisure. Overnight in Leticia. Leticia is the capital of Colombia's Amazonas region, and is a small jungle town on the Tres Fronteras, meaning it is at the junction of the Colombian, Brazilian and Peruvian borders. Filled with brightly coloured houses, cafes and restaurants, ports and markets, it serves as a gateway to the Amazon and is the only way into the Amazon from Colombia. B ID 5 - P a g e 3
Day 3 Amazon Jungle Meals Breakfast. Take a boat trip along the Amazon and Javari rivers, with a short stop in the Brazilian town of Benjamin Constant, before continuing the journey to your lodge. In the afternoon you will explore the surrounding forest and lake. Upon returning to the lodge there will be a cocktail reception, followed by dinner. Overnight in lodge. B L D Amazon Rainforest Day 4 Amazon Jungle Meals At dawn take a boat trip followed by a guided rainforest exploration. Discover local bird species and watch the splendour of the sunrise. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Later, take a boat tour along the river to meet up with pink dolphins. Enjoy a swim with the dolphins and relax on the white sand beaches (July-October) taking in the sunset. In the evening, depart by boat to search for caimans. Overnight in lodge. B L D Amazon Rainforest Day 5 Amazon Jungle Meals Early breakfast before a boat trip along the Amazon to reach your lodge, located on the banks of the Paraná. Later, hike into the depths of the forest. Experience the atmosphere of the forest at night. B L D Amazon Rainforest Day 6 Leticia Meals After breakfast take a walking tour on the lookout for different animal species, medicinal plants, wild fruits and giant trees.
