On this regard, as agreed by the SAM/IG/20 meeting (May 2017) and taking into account the programme of activities approved by the RLA/06/901 Project Coordination Committee (RCC/10) for 2017, a Workshop for the optimisation of longitudinal separation will be carried out in this Regional Office from 06 to 09 November 2017. This workshop is aimed at consolidating the longitudinal separation of 40 NM between aircraft and, at the same time, promoting an implementation plan for the reduction of the longitudinal separation from 40 NM to 20 NM in the SAM Region, applicable to aircraft equipped with GNSS, as provided in ICAO Document 4444. In this sense, there is an opportunity to update and/or sign the Letters of Agreement/ Memoranda of Understanding between the Administrations and/or ANSPs, in accordance with the commitments assumed for the optimisation of longitudinal separation. The objectives and requirements of the workshop, as well as the tentative work programme, are detailed under Attachment A. Av.
