Monday, September 3, 213 - Week 4 The Week at a Glance Last month s rally of Baltic Dry Index has eased, showing signs of stabilization in the region of 2, points. Activity remains in reasonable good levels, with buyers of quality modern tonnage, always hungry. Investors are either from the traditional part of shipping, or new companies. An interesting reported deal is the acquisition from Empire Bulkers of five modern handysizes from bankrupt Korean owners TPC in unconfirmed yet details. Furthermore, the sale of the handymax CB Paradise (46,232 dwt, 23 blt, Japan) to the Singapore based Pioneer Maritime led by formerly Dryship s, CFO Mr Pankaj Khanna joint by private equity firm Garison Investement Group. Tanker activity this week remained in low levels in comparison to previously seen higher volumes especially in the Aframax sector. On the contrary demolition market is becoming stronger for the India-subcontinent mainly driven by the strengthening of Indian Rupee. Remains to be seen if it is going to stabilize and create more confidence. Chinese demo activity is slowing due to the upcoming Chinese holidays. Done but failed true or false: The bulk carrier Voge felix (24279 dwt, 1997 blt, Japan) was reported sold last week, but due to buyers failure to lodge the deposit, the vessel is available for sale again. On the other hand, the handymax Ayse Aksoy (45694 dwt, 1995 blt, Japan) even though failed last week, has been finally sold to Bangladesh based buyers at USD 7,45 Million.
