Introduction What is AFRAA? A trade association of airlines which hail from the nations of the African Union. Founded in Accra, Ghana, in 1968, and today headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. The primary purpose of AFRAA is to foster commercial and technical co-operation among African airlines and to represent their common interests. The Association s members (37 airlines) represent over 83% of total international traffic carried by all African airlines.

Highlights AFRAA Training Unit Contd Main focus for 2012-2014: Safety courses to facilitate IOSA process in various airlines. Various airlines undertook training and became IOSA certified. Focus for 2015: Managing costs to increase profitability of airlines Focus for 2016: Focus on safety and security courses to improve the safety image of the continent. Hundreds of participants trained every year.
