The Californian RV Resort Acton, CA Feb 6-9, 2018 WagonMasters: Karla & Greg Bechner, assisted by Bob and Paula Gorges Written By Greg Bechner: Tuesday February 6th 2018 Wagon Masters Greg and Karla Bechner, Co-Wagon Masters Bob and Paula Gorges, Lorraine Brockway, Greg and Nancy Walczynski, Augie and Judi Sansone, John and Linda Walsh, total of 6 coaches settled in at the Californian RV Resort in Acton California the site of the outing. After setting up the coaches the group caravanned to Crazy Otto s Dinner in Acton for dinning and fellowship. Wednesday February 7th the group left the campground and carpool to the Vasquez Rocks State Park in Agua Dulce a 932-acre park located in the high desert featuring unique rock formations. We were greeted by park Ranger Sarah she gave a short narrative on the history of the park and its geological formations. She stated that this area of rock outcropping in the park was 20 to 25 million years old. This unique area has been used since the 1920 s by Hollywood as a movie back drop while filming westerns as well as the movies Star Track and the Flintstones. After touring the visitors center the group drove a short distance within the park for a photo session in front of the historical rocks and with luck came across a commercial being filmed there! Afterwords it was off for Dutch treat lunch which was enjoyed by all at Maria Bonita Mexican food in Agua Dulce. Afternoon activities consisted of yarn heart crafts in the Club House with a Club Meeting, and a pot luck dinner in club house. After dinner there was Karaoke and our High Desert Rig Runners were in fine form with everyone who attended tried their best at singing. Thursday February 8 th the group carpooled to the Nethercutt Collection and Museum in Sylmar for a scheduled guided tour. The J. B. Nethercutt Collection is the life s work of J. B. Nethercutt, cofounder of Merle Norman Cosmetics. The Nethercutt Museum showcases more than 100 of the world s greatest antique, classic and special-interest automobiles, along with assemblages of mechanical musical instruments displayed in Lower and Grand Salon Showrooms. The tour concluded with tour of a 1912 Pullman Private Car once owned by Clara Baldwin Stocker daughter of Lucky Baldwin, and a 1937 Canadian Pacific Royal Hudson Locomotive. Evening dinner was prepared and provided by the Wagon Masters in the club house. The evening entertainment was the dice game called LCR, left, right, and center. Friday February 9 th the Wagon Masters provided a get-a-way Breakfast in the club house with everyone saying their goodbyes until we see each other next month. Thanks for attending our camp-out. Presidents Report I want to thank Greg and Karla Bechner and Bob and Paula Gorges for a wonderful three days. Vasquez Rocks was an awesome place to visit. When we got down to the rocks there was a video being filmed. We left there and had a nice lunch. The next day we were off again to the Merle Norman Museum. If you haven't seen this museum before you need to see it. It is a Museum of functional art. Everything works. We had a special visit from Larry and Shirley Zollinger. I was great seeing everyone. Thank you everyone for the great pot luck. Thank you to the Wagon masters for awesome Spaghetti dinner. Hope everyone got home safe. Until March 6 th, See you then.
