#TheSkyIsCalling A PROGRAM TO BUILD YOUR BASIC AVIATION KNOWLEDGE This Recrea onal Pilot Licence (RPL) Theory Course is designed to enable you to develop an understanding of the basic avia on theory and principles required to sit the Australian CASA Recrea onal Pilot Licence (RPL) theory exam and to complement the underpinning skills and knowledge required whilst undertaking the RPL Flight Training.
THEORY IS INTEGRATED INTO FLIGHT TRAINING Theory sessions will cover aeronau cal knowledge, aircra general knowledge, flight rules, radio procedures and basic meteorology. Ground Theory will be integrated into flight training.
TRAINING PROCESS & COURSE SYLLABUS
RPL THEORY COURSE SYLLABUS Principles of Flight Define basic aerodynamics including the forces involved in flight, the effects of speed, angle of a ack and angle of bank, stall and stability. Engines, Systems and Instruments Define avia on terminology and abbrevia ons, aircra four-stroke piston engines, fuels and oils, correct use of engine controls, and the cause, effect, and rec fica on of engine icing and their limita ons. List the system malfunc ons in the cockpit, ac ons taken by pilot to manage malfunc ons, flight instruments. Describe the effects and repercussions of malfunc oning systems on pressure and gyroscopic flight instruments. Aircra Opera ons Define the emergency procedures and ac on, engine and airframe limita ons, opera ng speeds, fuel and oil types, quan es, and limita ons. Local Area Naviga on and Meteorology Part Extract informa on from naviga on documents including maps and charts. Develop the knowledge of local weather, weather forecasts and reports, and state the significance of various weather observa ons. Air Legisla on Understand the restric ons pertaining to the carriage of passengers, various regula ons, rules, and orders rela ng to the responsibili es of the pilot in command, the various regula ons, rules, and orders rela ng to pre, during, and post flight pilot ac ons. Define the limita ons of the Recrea onal Pilot Licence and the rules of the air, discuss the general contents of the suite of CASA and Australian Government avia on rules, regula ons and instruc ons, learn requirements of aerodrome opera on including condi ons rela ng to turns a er take-off and joining the circuit for landing. Flight Radio Endorsement Define the phone c alphabet and standard terminology for transmi ng numerals, aerodrome and local airspace standard radio terminology, radio failure procedures and operate the aircra radio equipment correctly. Human Performance and Limita ons Explain the importance of basic health on pilot performance, differences and intervals for the frequency of Class 2 and Class 1 pilot medical examina ons, effects of alcohol and drugs in the human body, effects of al tude and atmospheric pressure changes on the body, the basic anatomy of the human ear, human factor considera ons in the context of avia on safety and the basic principles of threat and error management.
