ITINERARY DAY 1: RIO DE JANEIRO On arrival in Rio you will be met and transferred to your beach front hotel. DAY 2: RIO DE JANEIRO You will be collected from your hotel by your guide and taken to the most famous landmark of the city, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. You will embark on a comfortable train which will climb the mountain, where the statue is located (2.300ft above sea level). From here you will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro. The statue has been elected one of the "New Wonders of the World". (B) DAY 3: RIO DE JANEIRO Today you will be collected from your hotel and taken to visit the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, another of the cities iconic symbols. Its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf. The tour is taken in two steps by glass cable-car and offers spectacular views of the entire bay. (B) DAY 4: RIO DE JANEIRO - IGUAZU This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Iguacu, where you will be met by your guide and taken into the National park, where you hotel is located. Spend a few hours on the trail that winds from outside the hotel to the falls. This afternoon, you will also be able to enjoy the Macuco Safari boat trip to the base of the falls. Be warned - you will get wet! (B) DAY 5: IGUAZU FALLS Today you will be taken to the Argentine border where you will go through passport control before continuing to the Argentine side of the spectacular Iguazu falls. After entering the protected area you will embark upon a series of circuits around the falls. Highlights include the rock bridges of the Devil's Throat falls, the amazing flora and fauna and the multitude of rainbows that spring up in the spray of the falls. (B)
DAY 6: IGUAZU - SAO PAULO - MANAUS - AMAZON RAINFOREST Morning pick up from your hotel for your flights to Manaus, via Sao Paulo. On arrival to Manaus you will be met by a representative of your hotel and transferred by boat and land transfer, a journey of approximately three and a half hours. From Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge you will visit the Monkey Jungle before enjoying dinner. This evening sees you canoeing on the river in search of alligators. (B,D) DAY 7: AMAZON RAINFOREST Today you will choose from an array of excursions on offer, into the Amazon rainforest. These will be lead by expert English-speaking naturalist guides. The options range from early morning bird-watching tours by dug- our canoe to piranha fishing in the river. (B, L, D) DAY 8: AMAZON RAINFOREST Continue your Amazon excursions into the rainforest and along the river and its tributaries. Other options include experiencing a local indigenous village or visiting the floating cafe for some freshly friend piranha! (B, L, D) DAY 9: AMAZON - MANAUS- SALVADOR Today you will be transferred back to Manaus in plenty of time for your onward flight to Salvador. On arrival you will be met and transferred to you hotel. (B) DAY 10: SALVADOR You will be collected from you hotel and taken on a historic tour of Salvador, visiting Pelourinho, where you will be staying, the Sao Francisco Church with it's gold leaf baroque designs and the Largo do Pelourinho at the heart of the neighbourhood. (B) DAY 11: SALVADOR - PORTO SEGURO - TRANCOSO This morning you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Salvador Airport for your flight to Porto Seguro. On arrival at Porto Seguro Airport you will be met and taken to your lodgings in the small beach town of Trancoso, approximately a two hour drive from Porto Seguro. (B)
DAY 12: TRANCOSO Trancoso is a small town known for its traditional architecture and surrounding beaches and rainforest. The nearby National parks and Nature reserves have been invested in by the government and the town is on the edge of a protected area where tourism is limited in order to reduce the cultural and environmental impact. Today you will have some time to explore the beautiful beaches and national parks for which Trancoso is renowned. (B) DAY 13: TRANCOSO Day at leisure. (B) DAY 14: TRANCOSO Day at leisure. (B) DAY 15: TRANCOSO - PORTO SEGURO - SAO PAULO You will be collected from your lodgings in Trancoso and taken to the airport in Porto Seguro in time for your flight to Sao Paulo and on to the UK.
