Here, amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and some of the most amazing surfing opportunities. Formerly a quiet little fishing village, Puerto Viejo has a charm that is all its own. With its relaxed atmosphere and its own unique blend of Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Bribri indigenous cultures,

Puerto Viejo is a lively place to have a fun relaxing vacation. With its gold sand beaches, tropical vegetation and many interesting attractions nearby such as the Cahuita National Park, Talamanca Indian Reserve and Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, visiting Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a great opportunity to experience Costa Rica at its best. One can also indulge in horseback tours of the area, as well as snorkeling, diving, mountain biking, kayaking or boogie boarding. Whether you are looking forward to having a good time or just a laidback retreat, the shores of Puerto Viejo are a great place to kick back and soak in the sun! Day 6 Shared transfer to Sarapiquí Sarapiqui is not a popular tourist destination yet, but boasts an amazing amount of biodiversity and should be on every nature lover s list. A great place to enjoy Costa Rica s amazing natural beauty, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is perfect for those who enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, white water rafting, or kayaking. A great way to spend a day here would be to take an optional rafting trip down the Sarapiqui River, one of the most important trade routes between this region and the Caribbean coast. What s unique about the Sarapiqui region is that it sits relatively low in elevation and has several large rivers which converge in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, the largest

town in the area. Around these rivers is a mixture of farmland and protected tropical forest. It s in these vast swaths of humid jungle that a lot of environmental research takes place. We recommend to visit Tirimbina, ( not included ) a biological reserve, research center. Enjoy an easy-to-access network of trails, as well as a massive hanging bridge. The bridge is impressive, stretching about 200 meters (650 feet) over the raging Sarapiqui River, and has a spiral staircase halfway across that leads down to a small jungle-covered island. Shuttle Transfer from Puerto Viejo de Limón to Sarapiquí AM Option A: Selva Verde Lodge & Rainforest Reserve (1 Night) Room Type: Standard Room Hacienda Sueño Azul Hotel (1 Night) Room Type: Superior Room Day 7 Shared transfer to Arenal/Fortuna Arenal Volcano located in La Fortuna, is the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica. For most of modern history, Volcán Arenal was just another dormant volcano surrounded by fertile farmland. But for about 42 years the volcano was an ever-active and awe-striking natural wonder, producing menacing ash columns, massive explosions and streams of glowing molten rock almost daily. The fiery views are gone for now, but Arenal is still a worthy destination, thanks to the dense forest covering her lower slopes and foothills, and her picture-perfect conical shape up top. This area is rugged and varied, rich with wildlife and laced with trails.

Optional excursions (Not Included): 1. Soak in a volcano-heated hot spring Grand Spa at Tabacón Grab a robe and settle into the jungle Jacuzzi while spa valets serve you healthy smoothies. Treatments like the chocolate body wrap and the couples two-hour massage utilize locally made products and end with champagne and fresh fruit. For a full day of pampering, request the spa package, which includes access to the thermal baths, lunch or dinner 2. Hike to a waterfall The reward for a tough hike down to Catarata de la Fortuna is a magnificent waterfall, plummeting nearly 250 feet into a freshwater pool. 3. Watch wildlife Birds, monkeys, turtles, caiman, and sloths abound in the 25,000-acre Caño Negro National Wildlife Refuge. 4. Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges A series of trails and bridges form a loop through the primary rain forest of a 250-acre private reserve, providing great bird-watching and volcano viewing. Sixteen fixed and hanging bridges allow you to see the forest at different levels. Trails are open rain or shine, and there are things to do in both types of weather, including horseback-riding tours that start at 9 am and 1 pm. Day 9 Shared transfer to Rincón de la Vieja Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located about 25 km (15 miles) northeast of Liberia, the capital city of Guanacaste. Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a special place because it sits in a part of Guanacaste where the flat plains meet the jungle-filled mountains. For this reason, in dry times of year the area will remain green and vibrant. Since there is more vegetation, there are also better chances to spot wildlife. Another big draw of Rincon de la Vieja National Park are the many volcanic elements. Active steam vents and bubbling mud pots can be seen right along the trails. Boasting fantastic sceneries, beautiful waterfalls, soothing hot springs, boiling mud pits, a fresh water volcanic lagoon, picnic areas and long-winding trails that one can hike or horseback ride, the Rincon de la Vieja National Park is paradise for hikers. Spread over 14,083 hectares, this park is also the habitat of an impressive array of wildlife, insects and birds like the Spider Monkey, the Blue-crowned Motmot, the Emerald Toucanet, jaguars, cougars and tapirs. Also found in abundance here amidst the verdant vegetation are, Guaria Morada orchids, the national flowers of Costa Rica as well as a plethora of Laurel and Guanacaste trees.
