Discover Iceland PRE-CRUISE VACATION STRETCHER

Reykjavik Iceland is a Nordic island nation that is defined by its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, and lava fields. It is country of contrasts where fire and ice coexist, where the dark winter s northern lights give way to the summer s midnight sun and where an insular existence has spurred a rich and vibrant culture. Though Reykjavik has its own draws, the area surrounding it boasts an incredible wealth of scenery and activities. While it isn t quite the whole country in microcosm, it comes close. Just a couple of hours outside of the city, you ll suddenly find yourself walking on lava rocks, driving through a long, dramatic fjord and on top of a glacier, and learning how glaciers are formed as you walk through an ice cave. The beauty is pure, raw, otherworldly and exciting! Not experiencing what lies just beyond Reykjavik would be a tragedy and is not to be missed! Cruising around Iceland will be an unforgettable experience, but there are some truly unforgettable moments you can only see by land tour with the women of Olivia. You ll climb into a Super Jeep that takes you over jagged terrain and glaciers, and through rushing rivers to areas that would not normally be accessible by a car or even a regular jeep. You ll envision the glacier that carved Thorsmork Valley while standing on top of a peak taking in the breathtaking scenery. You ll walk into a glacial ice cave and truly understand the thousands of years it took to form the ice you are standing on. These experiences are at the heart of what is meant when you say, I went to Iceland and saw what makes it so unique, so special and one of the top tourist destinations today and for years to come! This is your chance, your time, your experience! Don t miss this opportunity to truly understand, see and learn about the people, the history and geography of this magical and mystical country! NOT INCLUDED International air, meals where not listed ACTIVITY LEVEL REQUIREMENTS IMPORTANT This pre-trip does require a HIGH LEVEL of mobility, as most of the tours require extensive walking (walking on uneven surfaces, glaciers (which are very slippery), for long distances and up and down hills and stairs) and standing for extended periods of time. Please note that wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated on this tour. If you do have limited mobility and feel that you are still able to do the activity level requirements, you are required to travel with someone who can assist you. Expect days to be very long with a lot of driving in Super Jeeps. On July 14, we will not arrive at the hotel until 6:30 pm at the earliest. Once on tour, there is no way to get back to the hotel on your own as we will be leaving the city and going to experience the natural wonders and beauty outside of Reykjavik. NOT INCLUDED International air, meals where not listed ABOUT YOUR TOURS Eyjafjallajökull Volcano LAVA Volcano & Earthquake Center Thorsmork Valley Thorsmork Valley of Thor Tour (Three-Night Package Only) Today after breakfast, you will travel through the Southern Lowlands to the beautiful area of Eyjafjöll, close to the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and to the valley of Thorsmork, where birch trees decorate the land and fjording clear rivers and glacial rivers are crossed to access the most remote and picturesque areas of this amazing area. You will be picked up by Super Jeep and travel along the south shore to Hvolsvöllur, home to the LAVA Volcano & Earthquake center. This center will reveal the epic forces of nature that shaped our planet and created Iceland only 20 million years ago. LAVA is dedicated to the unique volcanoes and geology of Iceland. The center features an interactive educational exhibition exploring the art and science of geology and the volcanic systems in Iceland and an educational learning center for geology. The interactive exhibition will display a collection of artifacts, films and graphics from various volcano eruptions that have occurred in the past century. After this stop, you will head to Thorsmork, Valley of Thor, a nature reserve nestled between glaciers and mountains. This wide valley named after Thor, the Viking God of Thunder, is surrounded on three sides by steep mountains, crossing raging rivers, passing caves and giant boulders before stopping at the remains of a glacial lagoon at the glacier of Gígjökull. You will have time to take a walk to explore the aftermath of the immense fast-flowing flood, caused by the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in April 2010, which destroyed a lagoon and left a blackened area. From here you will continue your adventure into this beautiful valley, where your adrenaline will kick in as your skilled drivers cross over seemingly impossible rivers to get you to your final destination in the valley for your BBQ lunch at Húsadalur. After lunch you will have approximately one hour to enjoy the breathtaking scenery with its multitude of small gullies and valleys, clad with low birch-trees that create seemingly endless possibilities for the nature lover. Perhaps you will want to head uphill for some magnificent panoramic views from the top, or hike in the very scenic canyon of Stakkholtsgjá with a nice waterfall at the end.

Thorsmork Valley Hiking the canyon of Stakkholtsgjá Seljalandsfoss Waterfall Thorsmork is the most popular hiking area in the country and it is breathtaking to stand on top of many of the hills and mountains. You will be in awe of the raw power of nature and will be captivated by its special charm. After thoroughly enjoying and taking in the awe-inspiring beauty of Thorsmork Valley, your next stop will be Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Seljalandsfoss is breathtakingly beautiful and one of the best-known waterfalls in Iceland. This waterfall is a mustsee when visiting the South Coast. The unique trademark of this venue is that it is possible to walk behind the waterfall so bring a raincoat as you will get wet from the drizzle and you must take care as the ground is uneven and slippery. It is worth it, though; the views and the roaring sound from behind the waterfall are phenomenal. Tonight, you will be free for exploring and dinner on your own. Ice cave in Langjökul Glacier Langjökul Glacier Hraunfossar Falls Into the Glacier Tour (Three-Night Package Only) This tour puts the ice in Iceland! This isn t your average Iceland tour, it is an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime adventure, that takes you into an ice cave located on Langjökul, Europe s second largest glacier. After breakfast, you will be picked up by Super Jeeps, modified jeeps that can take you into remote locations that would otherwise not be accessible. Take in the Icelandic landscape as we make our way to our first stop, Hraunfossar (lava falls) Waterfalls, a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about half a mile from the Hallmundarhraun lava field. Your adventure then continues with a stop at Húsafell Hotel for a traditional Nordic-style lunch. After enjoying a wonderful lunch in this sweet hotel, you will board your Super Jeep and start to make your way onto the glacier.

The ice tunnels are located at 900 meters above sea level and the Super Jeep takes you right to the top! The ice tunnels reach about 300 meters into the Langjökul Glacier and an experienced guide walks with you through the majestic world of the glacier while informing and educating you on the wonders of glaciers. Deildartunguhver Hot Springs Deildartunguhver Hot Springs Krauma Baths After learning all about the glacier, taking in the rare opportunity to see the inside, you ll board your Super Jeep once again for Deildartunguhver hot spring to warm up! You will drive down from the mountains to Europe s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver where an endless flow of boiling water comes up from the inner earth. Next to the hot spring lies Krauma Baths, where you will soak in the nice hot water that flows from the hot spring. So, don t forget your bathing suit! Krauma Baths offers five relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub to get your blood circulation going, two calming saunas and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace while listening to soothing music. Feeling fully refreshed you will board your Super Jeep one last time for the day and make our way back to Reykjavik. Tonight, you will have free time to explore Reykjavik on your own. Blue Lagoon & Lunch at the Lava Restaurant (Three- & One- Night Packages) Today, after checking out of the hotel, you ll board your coach for one last adventure to the Blue Lagoon before embarking on your next adventure around Iceland. The Blue Lagoon is located approximately 40 minutes from Reykjavik. Upon arrival to Iceland s most unique and popular attraction, the Blue Lagoon, you will be led up through the Premium Access line, where you will receive a bathrobe, towel and flip flops, and then escorted into the locker rooms to change into your bathing suit. Once you step out of the locker room, you will admire and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lagoon s surroundings and relax in the warm and welcoming water of the Blue Lagoon. The geothermal water originates 2,000 meters below the earth s surface, where freshwater and seawater combine at extreme temperatures. On its way to the surface, the water picks up silica and minerals and is typically at temperatures

between 98 104 degrees F when it emerges. The geothermal water has a unique composition, featuring three active ingredients: silica, algae and minerals. The blue color, where the Blue Lagoon gets its name, comes from the silica and the way it reflects sunlight. During the summer months you may also see a hint of green in the water. This is the result of the algae, which multiplies quickly when exposed to direct sunlight. The Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa The Blue Lagoon s Geothermal Seawater The Blue Lagoon s geothermal seawater is known for its positive effects on the skin. The algae have anti-aging properties and the silica strengthens the skin. Combined, they aid in clearing your complexion and having healthy-looking skin. Please note that your Premium Access into the Blue Lagoon includes the following: use of a bathrobe and towel, Blue Lagoon flip flops to keep, a Silica Mud Mask, Algae Mask, a drink of your choice, and sparkling wine at the LAVA Restaurant. After your experience in the geothermal spa you will enjoy lunch in the Lava Restaurant at the Blue Lagoon before being transferred back to Reykjavik for embarkation on your new home for the week, the Star Breeze, for your journey around the entirety of Iceland!
