MOROCCAN ADVENTURE

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Moroccan Adventure in support of Anza! We hope this pack contains everything you need to make the decision to join us on an incredible adventure of a lifetime! What s it all about? We ve all read tales of faraway lands, distant cultures and awe-inspiring adventures. Well, Anza is taking one such adventure to Morocco! During this adventure you will get to experience the souks and riads of the ancient city of Marrakech as well as the spectacular High Atlas mountains. With the summit of Toubkal at 4,167 metres it s the highest peak in North Africa sitting majestically in this mountain range. The impressive and changing landscape will keep you guessing as you pass through remote villages and rocky gorges. You ll then travel over to the coast, where you ll continue your hike. Morocco is a beautiful country situated on the north-west corner of Africa and is home to a population of over 30 million residents. It s full Arabic name is al-mamlaka al-magribiyya, which translates to The Western Kingdom. Morocco is well known for their High Stlus Mountains, which protected the country from the threat of colonisation from Europe up until 1912. Overview Destination: Overall Trip Cost: Price Breakdown: Grading: Trip Duration: Accommodation: Morocco 1050 fundraising target + 195 registration fee 650 charity donation, 400 expedition expenses Tough. Why do a charity challenge for Anza? Anza s Core Purpose Anza exists to start and scale social businesses based on the identified needs of Kilimanjaro Region in Tanzania. We do this in three ways: (1) incubating in-house Anza businesses; (2) supporting local entrepreneurs and ideas; (3) bringing proven social business models into the Region. Our Vision Every low and middle income family in Tanzania has the opportunity to improve their livelihoods through the access to appropriate products and services by a network of social businesses. At Anza we want to grow a network of such social businesses, whereby the business objectives will be dual: (a) to overcome poverty, or one or more problems (such as education, health, technology access, and environment) which threaten people and society and (b) profit maximisation, to reward local entrepreneurs invested into the businesses. Our brand promise as Anza ensures that a minimum of 51% of profits/dividends are reinvested back into the business to grow social impact.

Itinerary Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Airport pick up, taken to hotel for the night. Depart from your hotel in Marrakech. After your transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1780m), you will set off an a 6 hour trek out of the Imlil Valley and into the Azzadene Valley. Along the way you will pass Tizi N Mzik at 2450m, the refuge at Azib n Tamsoult and the Ighouliden waterfalls. Overnight in Azib n Tamsoult in a tent. Today involves a fairly stiff climb out of the Azzadene Valley to the Toubkal Refuge over the Aguelzim Mountain pass at 3560m. Lunch will be taken with spectacular views over the Atlas Mountain Range. Overnight in a tent nearby the Toubkal Refuge (Neltner Hut). Early in the morning we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti- Atlas and the Sahara. We will retrace our steps when we return down the mountain and spend the night in a tent nearby the refuge again. Day 6 Day 7 Day 8 Day 9 Day 10 After breakfast we will leave Imlil. We will drive to Tafna where we will start our trek. This will be like 4 to 5 hours driving. Once the camels are loaded the caravan will set off, passing over Cape Tafelny via the plateau and then drop down to the beach of Sidi Hamad Saeih, where we pitch our tents for the night. Our road follows the coast, either along the beach or across the higher plain (depending on wind conditions). Camp at Marabout Sidi Mbarek. The coast stretches away to the horizon. Three linked beaches lead us to Sidi Kaouki. A fishing port and meeting place for windsurfers. We spent the night camping on the beach. After breakfast we will leave Sidi Kaouki and drive back to Marrakech, this is about a 3 hour drive. Return to hotel for final night. After breakfast we will return to the airport. End of Services. Day 5 Today we head back towards Imlil. After arrival back in Imlil you will have time to relax. Night in a guesthouse.
