Please have all reports, articles and photos forwarded to editorpelicanbowls@westnet.com.au. We would like to welcome all visitors and new members, Full and Social into our Club during November. We hope you enjoy the facilities of the Club. If you have any queries do not hesitate to contact the Club Secretary, Lin Ballinger on 5492 1032. 2

FROM CHAIRMAN LIN Thank you to all members for your support at the SGM. It is the boards intention to keep the Club moving forward. To, members and guests you may not notice board members moving around with tape measures and colour charts but we are getting our plans ready for the lower section of the club. Watch this space. I have put a list of the new Board members and their portfolios on the notice board; it would be very much appreciated if you would like to share the load to put your name down and the area you wish to volunteer onto the second sheet. The old saying Many hands make light work. Please remember that change is good and without change we cannot grow and move forward. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the previous board members for their hard work and forward thinking. They have started our club on a new pathway and the current board will continue with their great work. My favourite saying: The key to success is turning the stumbling block you encounter along the way into a stepping stone. Enjoy your bowling, see you on the green Lin 3

MENS BOWLING ARM PRESIDENTS REPORT Year 2018 seems to be gaining pace towards Christmas and 2019 with several In Visits and finalising PW Commitments of 2018. Our last MBA Meeting in September included a decision to appeal to District to have minor adjustments made for 2019 Winter Carnival in relation to PW teams. The appeal included a swap between Ladies Pairs and Men's Fours at PW Carnival. This move is to avoid the continuing clash with the Ladies District C and C events. The request was noted with a positive review. The Men's Pennants for 2018 was completed with PW Divisions 1, 4, 6 and 7 all contesting the Semi Finals, but all failed to register a flag. However, PW selectors and bowlers were pleased with the increased effort and result. This time of the year requires a big thanks to all of our hard working volunteers. Approx. 80 men and women make our Club so special. In conclusion please note the following important dates; MBA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 7.00pm MONDAY 26/11/18. COMBINED MBA and LBA XMAS PARTY and PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES 8/12/18. TREVOR McGLYNN, Bill Sullivan Kaye Harm Jenny Gordan John Gordon Winners of our club Springtime Triples. 24 teams. 13 from PW Other teams from other clubs. 4

LADIES BOWLING ARM PRESIDENTS REPORT We have had an exciting end to our Pennants season. The Division 3 had a win. This is the first pennant the ladies have won for 5 years.the red pennant flag will be up the flagpole on ladies day. The Division 4 girls were a little unfortunate with leading their competition up to the second last week so were pipped at the post. Well done to all players and managers and supporters. Congratulations to Robyn Schey who defeated Gail Smith in the final of Consistency. The novice singles has been completed. Denise Bragg won. This is an opportunity for newer players to participate. Well done girls. Players have enjoyed playing pairs for a change and we hope to do this more often. The newer bowlers learnt a lot from this competition. Tips on etiquette and measuring were helpful to newer bowlers It is pleasing to see how many willing volunteers we have at the club. Thank you all for your contribution. We had our annual fashion parade on Monday 8th October. Thank you to Jan McLean for organising this event again. Lots of tickets were sold as this is a major fund raiser for the club. Springtime Triples on Wednesday 17th October was a major success. There were 24 teams competing from our club and around the district. It was pleasing to see the Pelican players take out major prizes. Thank you to Wendy Tonks for organising this event which ran like clockwork. The age challenge was held on Wednesday 10th October. The chickadees were hoping for an upset this year but we sure had tough competition and did not achieve the win. Congratulations to the over 70's. Always next year!!!! Don't forget Patrons Day on 23rd November. We honor our both patrons. Snow Woollett and Gwen Marshall. The ladies Xmas party is on the 5th December. The combined Xmas party and presentation of trophies is on the 8th December. There is entertainment with acts and a live band. Don't miss all the fun. Time to think about positions for the LBA for the next 12 months. Happy days and good bowling. Helen McGlynn 5
