WELCOME TO ENTRY POINT NORTH IRELAND ATS ACADEMY Warm welcome to Entry Point North s training site in Ireland! Entry Point North Ireland, established in January 2014, is our second-largest training site. The academy was founded by Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), the Irish Air Navigation Service Provider and Entry Point North. The IAA also became a 33% shareholder in Entry Point North. Entry Point North Ireland is staffed by experienced ATC personnel seconded from IAA and supported by personnel from headquarters in Sweden. Entry Point North Ireland has locations in Shannon and Dublin. Aside from the site in Malmö, Entry Point North training facilities are located in Ireland, Hungary, Denmark, Spain and Belgium. Our multinational staff originate from more than 20 countries and our students and course participants come from more than 35 countries all over the world. We would like to assist you during your time at Entry Point North Ireland and to make it enjoyable and memorable. This student guide presents practical information about our academy, facilities and local transport, and also provides some tips for your stay in Shannon. LOCATION AND CONTACT DETAILS LOCATION OF ENTRY POINT NORTH IRELAND Entry Point North Ireland is located in Shannon, Co Clare which is approximately 20km from Limerick city and 25km from Ennis town. Shannon Airport, an international airport serving the Limerick/Clare region is less than 10 minutes by car. The training centre is a specially equipped training facility and is adjacent to the Irish Aviation Authority s (IAA) Air Traffic Control Centre. TRANSPORT BY BUS From Limerick Bus Eireann (343) service from Limerick bus station commences at 05:05 and ends at 00.50, goes 7 days a week and operates on a standardised route via Coonagh, Bunratty, Shannon Town, Shannon Industrial Estate and Shannon Airport. www.buseireann.ie From Ennis Bus Eireann (343) operates a daily service between Ennis and Shannon within the hours of 07:10 and 23.40, 7 days a week. Operates on a standardised route via Clarecastle and Newmarket on Fergus and Shannon. www.buseireann.ie BY CAR From Shannon Airport Head northeast. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto N19. At Drumgeely Roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on the N19. At the Shannon Town Roundabout, take the 3rd Exit. Turn right onto Smithstown Go through 1 roundabout. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit. Turn right. Entry Point North Ireland will be on your right. From Limerick Entry Point North Ireland is located 20km from Limerick City Centre, approximately 20 minutes by car. Exiting Limerick, follow signs for Shannon Airport and N18, signposted Shannon Airport & Galway. Follow the N18 (passing Bunratty Castle on your right) for approximately 11km. Leave the N18 at exit 8. At Ballycasey roundabout, take the 3rd exit signposted Smithstown. Entry Point North Ireland is the first building after you leave the roundabout on your left. From Ennis Entry Point North Ireland is located 25km from Ennis town centre, approximately 21 minutes by car. Leaving Ennis, follow the N85/M18 signposted Galway/ Ennis. Exit N85 for M18 signposted Limerick. Continue on M18 for approximately 12km. Leave motorway at exit 9 and take the 3rd exit signposted Shannon Airport. After approximately 1 km, turn left signposted Smithstown. Follow this road for approximately 3 km, you will come to a roundabout at the entrance to Smithstown Industrial Estate. Take the 2nd exit off this roundabout. At the next roundabout, Entry point North Ireland is the building located on your right. Parking There is adequate free parking at the facility. GETTING AROUND AT ENTRY POINT NORTH IRELAND BUILDING DESCRIPTION Entry Point North Ireland s facility consists of simulator rooms, offices, coffee station, auditorium/lecture theatre and 7 training classrooms. The training centre occupies 3 floors and is equipped with an elevator. REFRESHMENTS/CANTEEN There is a canteen located on the 3rd floor which provides breakfast, hot lunches/dinners and a salad bar. This facility is open until 15:00 every day, at a subsidised cost and accepts cash only. Shannon Town Centre is located just 5 minutes drive from the facility which has a supermarket, cafés and restaurants. SECURITY The building is locked for security reasons. Upon arrival at Entry Point North Ireland you will be asked to sign in at security until you receive an access badge. Your badge must be worn at all times to access each floor/area. BUILDING FACILITIES Complimentary tea, coffee, and still water Smoking is only permitted outside of the academy building Fully subsidised canteen open until 15:00 HOUSE RULES Please remember that many people students, consultants and permanent staff share the space within the building. In order for everyone to feel comfortable, we have simple house rules that we ask everyone to abide by. 1 No food or drink is permitted in the simulation areas. 2 Remove all belongings when leaving the classrooms and simulators. Rearrange the chairs, tables and equipment back to the way you found them. All litter should be placed in the bins. 3 Be on time for lessons, simulator exercises and other common activities. 4 Please respect the training centres material and equipment. 5 Switch off your mobile phone or put it on silent mode during lessons, as mobile signals can cause interference to simulators nearby. Mobile phones are not to be brought into simulator. Entry Point North is a professional organisation and while you are a student here please adhere to a smart casual dress code. Track suits and football jerseys are not permitted. IN CASE OF EMERGENCY EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS A health and safety presentation will be provided to all new students by the Health & Safety Officer which will cover all health and safety procedures. As a Course Supervisor, Instructor, Employee or Student at Entry Point North Ireland we have many obligations regarding fire safety. When working at Entry Point North Ireland: You must locate the nearest emergency exit and escape route You must locate the nearest fire extinguisher You must locate the assembly point, situated in front of the main entrance which is a green and white sign reading Assembly point A Do not go back for any belongings Do not re-enter the building unless told to do so A weekly fire alarm is tested at 15:00 on Tuesdays only EMERGENCY CONTACTS Emergency services The emergency services can be contacted by dialling 112/999. The word Burren comes from an Irish word Boíreann meaning a rocky place. www.burrennationalpark.ie 15th-Century Bunratty Castle/Folk Park Bunratty Castle is the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. Cliffs of Moher The Cliffs of Moher are sea cliffs located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland.
