Sunday, September 29: Depart Washington, DC Dulles Airport Depart Washington, DC Dulles International Airport, on Royal Air Maroc Airlines. Our non-stop flight includes meals, drinks and in-flight entertainment. Monday, September 30: Arrive Casablanca, Morocco Arrive in Casablanca and transfer to our hotel in Rabat, where we have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore the capital city of Morocco or relax at the hotel for upcoming adventures. This evening, we get together for an orientation meeting with our Tour Manager, followed by a Welcome Dinner. Overnight: Le Diwan Rabat Hotel, Rabat Meal: Dinner Tuesday, October 1: Rabat Sightseeing and Travel to Fez Enjoy a city tour of Rabat this morning. View the Royal Palace, the ancient ruins of Chellah, the Oudaya Kasbah and the Hassan Tower. En route to Fez, we visit the ancient ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, where you will get a chance to see the wonderfully preserved original mosaics, Roman Road, and the city layout. As we travel through the Moroccan countryside, we pass the Holy City of Moulay Idriss for a photo opportunity. Upon arrival in Fez, enjoy a breathtaking view of the ancient city of Fez from the hill overlooking the medina -- the old Arab quarter of the city -- and a short bus tour of this imperial city. Overnight: Fez Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace, Fez Meal: Breakfast Wednesday, October 2: Full Day in Fez Enjoy a full-day tour in the oldest of the imperial cities, which is best known for its spiritual and educational contribution to the Moroccan culture. The tour includes visits to the medieval Fez el Bali (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Attarine Medersas, Nejjarine Fountains and Museum, and the exteriors of the Al Karaouine Mosque and Moulay Idriss mausoleum. A short visit to the surrounding leather shops will provide the best view of the famous tanneries. Lunch will be provided at a beautiful
restaurant within the medina. We will have an opportunity to explore the famous Souks, where craftsmen still practice their trades the traditional way. We end our tour day visiting Fes Jdid, the modern district of Fez, where the Royal Palace and Jewish Quarter are located. This evening, enjoy a special dinner hosted by a local family and learn about Moroccan culture and traditions. Overnight: Fez Marriott Hotel Jnan Palace Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Thursday, October 3: Travel to Marrakesh In the morning, we depart for Marrakesh, a journey that takes us through the ever-changing landscape of the Moroccan valleys and Atlas Mountains. We begin with beautiful views of the mountains around Ifrane and ends in the dry flatlands around Marrakesh, allowing you to experience the depth of the country s terrain. Enjoy a short tour of Marrakesh, the Red City. Please note that this will be the longest coach ride of the entire tour. Included will be sufficient rest stops for your comfort and a lunch break. Over the coming days we will have ample opportunity to explore this city, including the famous Jamaa El Fna Square and wide boulevards lined with restaurants and cafes. Overnight: Movenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakesh Meal: Breakfast Friday, October 4: Tour of Marrakesh After breakfast, enjoy a morning tour of the city. Visit the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 16 th century, where Saadian royalty found their final resting place. The tour also includes the Koutoubia Minaret, the beautiful Bahia Palace, as well as the opportunity to shop for Moroccan spices and herbs. End the tour by walking through the medina getting a chance to admire all of the different artisans performing their craft before arriving at the Jaama El Fna Square. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Tonight, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the night-lit streets of Marrakesh to a typical Moroccan dinner while you listen to live music and watch an elegant belly-dancing performance that caps off the night. In the morning, travel to Casablanca and tour the city in the afternoon. We will see the Hassan II Mosque, currently the second largest Mosque in the world, and the beautiful Corniche seaside. Take a moment to catch your breath at the end of your Moroccan adventure to admire the serenity of the Atlantic Ocean. Continue on a short drive through the residential areas of Casablanca to the city center to visit the Mohamed V Square, the Habous quarter and the Notre Dame de Lourdes Cathedral. Stop for a photo-op at Rick s Café made famous in the film Casablanca. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant on the Corniche.
