DAY 1 (Sunday) D * Itinerary Families Cambodia Retreat 2019 (Note: Included meals B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner) After settling at the 4-star Royal Crown Hotel and Spa from Siem Reap International Airport, the group will meet each other for a briefing and a fabulous degustation Khmer BBQ dinner down the road in the French Provincial Quarter of the city. DAY 2 (Monday) BL* The group will be transported by airconditioned minibus to the World Heritage area of Angkor Wat. After obtaining a photo pass at the ticket office to enter this unique location, the group will do a tour of the amazing Panorama Museum where approximately 1000 Korean artists painted a 3D representation of Cambodian history. There will be an expedition through various temples surrounding Angkor Wat, and from time to time the group will be presented with relaxation and mindfulness activities. There will be a break for lunch overlooking a lake. Perhaps a splash in the hotel pool on return, before exploring the Night Market and the Pub Street restaurants as a family. 3
DAY 3 (Tuesday) BL* Have your camera ready for this day with so many breathtaking scenes within temple walls at Angkor Wat, including an art workshop. Enjoy a wonderful refreshing lunch at the famous International restaurant and cooking school, Spoons. Then we are out to the Floating Villages of Chong Kneas and a boat ride out along the river to an inland lake and a crocodile farm. DAY 4 (Wednesday) BD* After two days of touring, now for some fun and adventure. There will be two options: the Zipline some 40 metres above the jungle canopy (extra supplementary cost for 12 years plus) or off to the Silk Farm, Artbox (3D photography) and Mini-golf. After lunch at Mr Mengly s Pou Restaurant, there will be time in the afternoon to enjoy a one-hour tour of the city and palace available by Tuk Tuk with Yem as well as a complimentary Khmer foot or back massage at the Royal Crown Spa. These will need to be booked at the daily briefings on the rooftop at sunset. On either Tuesday or Wednesday evening, after a short stroll down the road, there is the Apsara Theatre, where after a traditional Khmer dinner we will be entertained with Cambodian traditional music and dance, including some theatre from ancient stories 4
DAY 5 (Thursday) BL* The group will be off on a road trip to Battambang, some four hours drive away. There is much to see roadside and there will be a photograph competition of finding unusual sights from a set list. Lunch will be a local restaurant in Battambang. Once arriving at the Classy Hotel and Spa, and after a swim in their pool or perhaps a steam at the spa, there will be a tour of the Bat Cave at sunset, about thirty kilometres out of town. DAY 6 (Friday) BD* After a hearty breakfast, the group will be visiting the local Phare performing arts and art school where we will see students attending classes and circus training as well as see the art gallery of student works. Then it will be on to the Bamboo Railway for a 7-kilometre trip across the rice paddocks in an open train carriage. Bring your sunnies! After an afternoon relaxing at the hotel facilities, we will be going back to the school the Phare Circus show, where you will witness amazing acts from local performers. There will be time to have a snack at the Circus café before being seated. 5
DAY 7 (Saturday) BD* It s back to Siem Reap for the last full day of Cambodia. There will be time to wander the local markets and also relax at the pool in the Somadevi Hotel on the other side of town. A final group dinner will be held at the Café Indochine a surprise of local and Asian smorgasbord of delicacies in candle light perched above the vintage car at the main entrance. DAY 8 (Sunday) B There will be an early morning trip to Angkor Wat for sunrise to get some great photos or even complete some art work. After a magical week, it will be time to lap up the hotel and city surrounds before checking out and heading back to the airport to fly home or venture on your own to another location and further your holiday Note: * denotes that the meal is included in the price, excluding all beverages. SIDE TRIP: It is possible for a side trip via Minibus prior to or after the Families week. 3-day Koh Rong Island (boat trip from Sihanoukville) US$250 pp Minimum of 4. Included: Accomodation (1 night in Phnom Phen and 2 nights on Island resort), Minibus Hire & Boat Fare. Excluded: Meals & beverages. Costing is an estimate only. Note: Dates depend on availability of the minibus. Please note: REGISTRATION: All participants must have a completed Retreat Registration form and, once received, you will be contacted regarding payment. The receiving date by email will determine eligibility for the Early Bird rate. CHOICE OF DATES: There are two separate retreats on the dates advertised that could take place depending on the numbers. Numbers will be strictly limited to 12 persons per tour. You can state your preference for which tour dates, however there is no guarantee that both tours will proceed. Dates and side trips will be confirmed before 31/03/2019. AGE LIMITS: The retreats are designed for persons aged 12 years and older. If you wish to have a younger person to join your party on the retreat then this is possible. You will need to share a room and ensure that the child is accompanied at all times. There is no upper age limit, however due to the nature of the trip, all participants must be in good health and able to walk and climb steps independently. VISA REQUIREMENTS: Siem Reap, Cambodia can be visited by a single-entry tourist visa, for Australians, which can be paid upon arriving for US$30 with a passport sized photo. It is a 30-day visa if you wish to extend your stay in Cambodia. IMMUNIZATIONS: Although there is a low risk of transmission in Siem Reap, it is recommended that you are vaccinated, prior to the trip, for Typhoid, Hepatitis A/B, and Tetanus. It is advised to speak to your GP about these. It is also suggested that adults take Malaria prevention antibiotics prior to flying and then one month after returning. You should bring 80% DEET protection. 7
WAIVER & INSURANCE: All participants in the retreat must sign and return the Waiver of Responsibility form and take out Comprehensive Travel Insurance for the duration of the retreat. Please ensure that the insurance covers medical and accident expenses including medical transportation home, if required. Some credit cards offer insurance if the trip is paid for by credit card. Please note the 2% surcharge for credit card transactions. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Each day on the retreat there will be a short morning meditation session during the day tour. The group briefing in the hotel prior to the evening program around 5pm to 6pm. The group briefing will include debriefing the day s events, some mindfulness activities and preparatory work for the coming days. Meditation & art therapy sessions will occur whilst on day tours according to group needs.
