You may register for one week or all eleven. PAYMENT INFORMATION A $50 non-refundable deposit per week is due at registration. Deposit fee is applied to the total camp bill. A monthly draft will be set up for you when you register to spread out payment. All camp balances must be paid in full by June 10, 2019. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Deadline to apply is May 3, 2019. Applications are available on our Web site and are reviewed in the order they are received. Assistance is available based on qualifications and availability of funding. Check with your financial advisor or employer about federal tax breaks and Flexible Savings Account contributions for working parents with children under 13. If you are registering for Week #3, your weekly rate will be pro-rated. STAFFING Camp Zehnder is under the direction of year-round professional directors. Staff-to-child ratios are in accordance with national standards. We screen and select counselors and specialists from local high schools and colleges, as well as certified teachers in our community, resulting in a diverse group of highly qualified individuals. All staff complete a background check, attend extensive training prior to the start of camp and are CPR and first aid certified. MEDICAL SUPERVISION A qualified health director is on duty from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and works closely with the staff, campers and families to ensure the well-being of every child. Camp Zehnder meets the New Jersey Health Department Standards and National YMCA Camping Guidelines. TRANSPORTATION* Transportation to and from camp is offered for the full-day camper, and is available for an additional fee of $50 per camper per week. We transport campers from bus stops in the surrounding communities. SWIM SPECIALTY CAMP AGES 3 & UP June 24*-Aug 18 (Monday-Friday) 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. 1-Wk Sessions: $180 A three-hour camp rotating between swimming/skill development and fun activities. Each day, children will spend 90 minutes in the water and 90 minutes having fun in structured, camp-based activities. A great camp for kids who love the water or want to try something new while developing their swim skills. Children must be toilet trained. * No camp Thursday, July 4; weekly fee is prorated. EXTEND THE FUN! 1-Wk Sessions: $190 additional Pack your lunch and stay for a full day of camp after your morning specialty camp. Campers join our afternoon day camp programs where the fun continues until 4 p.m. Transportation is available for this program for an additional fee. SUMMER SESSION SWIM LESSONS AGES 6 MONTHS-12 YEARS Summertime is meant for swim lessons! INTRODUCING OUR BRAND NEW SUMMER CAMP GROUPS! Campers rotate through a variety of activities including traditional favorites like nature hikes, boating, fishing, and team-building games. Camp Zehnder offers a progressive programming format to provide age appropriate activities for each child. Campers are grouped based on the last grade completed and new activities are added each year as they grow with camp. PIONEERS 6:1 Ratio The first to explore a new area AGES 3-5 (Preschool) Full & Half-day options Half-day camp is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Great introduction to day camp. A full or half-day of fun, making new friends, swim lessons, circle time and exploring the outdoors. Children need to be fully and independently toilet trained. An afternoon snack is provided for full-day campers. NAVIGATORS 8:1 Ratio Directing the route or course AGES 6 & 7 (Grades K & 1 completed) New activities include the low ropes challenge course and a daily visit to the Trading Post. RANGERS 8:1 ratio Keeper of a park, forest, or countryside AGES 8 & 9 (Grades 2 & 3 completed) At this level, campers also participate in archery, climbing wall and zip line. EXPLORERS 10:1 Ratio Explore an unfamiliar area AGE 10 & 11 (Grade 4 & 5 completed) Campers have even more fun with trail biking, pottery and camp community service projects. Campers take responsibility by creating their own elective schedule. VOYAGERS 10:1 ratio Goes on a long trip AGE 12 (Grade 6 completed) Five-day camp includes travel off-site two days per week to local beaches, mini golf courses, arcades, and more. TEEN TRAVELERS 10:1 ratio Making a journey to a new place AGES 13-15 (Grades 7-9 completed) Five-day camp includes three off-site trips to locations like river tubing, laser tag, local beaches and more. As part of our Social Responsibility focus, Teen Travelers spend one half-day each week with a community service project ( Give Back Days ) at places like Ronald McDonald House, local food banks and other organizations in need of help. All participants receive a community service letter from the Y listing their hours and projects. NOTE: All trips are subject to change due to enrollment or weather conditions. ROLE MODEL IN TRAINING (RMIT) PROGRAM 12:1 Ratio Learning to me be a camp role model AGE 14-15 (Grade 9 completed) The RMIT program is designed to provide leadership training for campers ages 14-15 who have completed grade 9, and have a desire to work with children. This weekly program assists teens in learning and developing the necessary skills to work with children as a camp counselor. Upon registration an additional enrollment packet will be sent to the camper. References and interviews are required for acceptance in to this program. In addition to serving typical families, we have partnered with The Family Resource Network to grow our skills, and provide a safe and nurturing environment for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Camp NOVA at Camp Zehnder offers a fully integrated and independent camping experience under the guidance of certified behavior specialists brought to you by Autism Family Services. Counselor to camper ratios may vary and are determined based on an evaluated need of the individual camper. Home visits are required to determine the appropriate level of care.
