4 1 Introducton 4 1.1 Instructons Important nformaton and nstructons n ths documentaton are desgnated as follows: Danger! Draws your attenton to an exceptonally grave, mpendng danger to your health or lfe.!! Warnng! Indcates a hazardous stuaton that could lead to njures or materal damage. Attenton! Draws attenton to possble dangers, materal damage or loss of qualty. Notce! Gves you tps. They make a workng sequence easer or draw attenton to mportant workng processes. Envronment! Gves you tps on protectng the envronment. Handlng nstructon Reference to secton, poston, llustraton number or document. Opton (accessores, perpheral equpment, specal fttngs). 1.2 Intended Use The devce s manufactured n accordance wth the current technologcal status and the recognzed safety rules. However, danger to the lfe and lmb of the user or thrd partes and/or damage to the devce and other tangble assets can arse durng use. The devce may only be used for ts ntended purpose and f t s n perfect workng order, and t must be used wth regard to safety and dangers as stated n the operatng manual. The devce s ntended exclusvely for separatng pre-scored PCB's. Any other use or use gong beyond ths shall be regarded as mproper use. The manufacturer/suppler shall not be lable for damage resultng from unauthorzed use; the user shall bear the rsk alone. Usage for the ntended purpose also ncludes complyng wth the operatng manual, ncludng the manufacturer s mantenance recommendatons and specfcatons. Notce! The complete documentaton can also currently be found n the Internet. 1.3 Safety Instructons The devce s confgured for voltages of 115 or 230 V AC. It only has to be plugged nto a grounded socket. Hazard by electrcal charge. Provde an earthng connecton va press stud. Rsk of hand njury. Wear protectve gloves whle PCB separatng. Ensure that people s clothng, har, jewelry etc. do not come nto contact wth the exposed rotatng blade. The devce may only be used n a dry envronment, do not expose t to mosture (sprays of water, msts, etc.). Do not use the devce n an explosve atmosphere. Do not use the devce close to hgh-voltage power lnes. Work gong beyond ths may only be performed by traned personnel or servce techncans. Unauthorzed nterference wth electronc modules or ther software can cause malfunctons. Other unauthorzed work on or modfcatons to the devce can also endanger operatonal safety.
1 Introducton Always have servce work done n a qualfed workshop, where the personnel have the techncal knowledge and tools requred to do the necessary work. There are varous warnng stckers on the devce. They draw your attenton to dangers. Warnng stckers must therefore not be removed, as then you and other people cannot be aware of dangers and may be njured. Danger! Danger to lfe and lmb from power supply. Provde an earthng connecton va press stud. Table 1 Safety markng 1.5 Envronment Obsolete devces contan valuable recyclable materals that should be sent for recyclng. Send to sutable collecton ponts, separately from resdual waste. The modular constructon of the prnter enables t to be easly dsassembled nto ts component parts. Send the parts for recyclng.
6 2 Specfcaton 6 By usng the MAESTRO 2M PCB Separator, pre-scored PCB's are cleanly and economcally separated. Wear resstant blades and gudes made from specal steel ensure a long workng lfe wthout adjustment. Adjustment of the gudes can be quckly and easly carred out. The lower blade of the MAESTRO 2M s motor drven. The PCB s placed before the blades whch then take hold of the PCB, drawng t between them and thereby separatng t. The machne can be used for a long perod of tme wthout trng the operator, and s therefore partcularly sutable for processng large quanttes of PCB's. The motorzed drve s regulated, thereby hgh separaton performance s guaranteed. 3 Installaton 3.1 Unpackng and Settng-up the Devce Lft the devce out of the box. Check devce for damage whch may have occurred durng transport. Set up devce on a level surface. Check delvery for completeness. Contents of delvery: PCB Separator Power cable 2 Fuses T 1,0 A for operaton at 115 V 2 Fuses T 500 ma for operaton at 230 V Documentaton Allen key 2 mm 7! Notce! Please keep the orgnal packagng n case the devce must be returned. Attenton! The devce and prntng materals wll be damaged by mosture and wetness. Set up the devce only n dry locatons protected from splash water. 3.2 Connectng the Devce 1 2 3 4 Fg. 3 Connectons 3.2.1 Earthng Connecton! Attenton! Hazard by electrcal charge! Provde an earthng connecton va press stud (8). 3.2.2 Power Connecton 1. Ensure that the devce s swtched off at the power swtch (3). 2. Check the settng of the voltage selector (4). In order to alter the settng open the flap at the power nput module. Remove the voltage selector (4) and re-nsert t so that the correct voltage s vsble when module the flap s closed. Upon alterng the settng, the fuses n the module must also be changed accordngly (T500 ma for 230 V; T1,0 A for 115 V). 3. Connect the power cable to the power nput module (2) 4. Connect the power cable to an earthed socket.
8 3 Installaton 8 3.3 Heght Adjustment of the Upper Blade Notce! To avod possble damage on the blades durng transport the upper blade (4) s fxed n the "Park poston" so that there s a maxmum dstance to the lower blade. Set the upper blade nto the workng poston before swtchng on the machne. 1 2 3 6 3 4 5 Fg. 4 Heght adjustment of the upper blade There s a scale (1) on the frame where you can see the heght adjustment n steps of 1/10 mm. When you receve the machne, the ponter (2) of the scale s n poston "16". 1. Hold the knob (3) and loosen the knurled knob (6). 2. Rotate the knob (3) clockwse untl stop. Through that the upper blade (4) move down to the lower blade (5) untl both blades are just touchng one another (lower end poston). Make a notce of the poston of the ponter (2) to use t for all further adjustments. Ths lower end poston locks the upper blade n place to prevent t from movng out of adjustment. 3. Move the knob (3) ant-clockwse untl the ponter s n the mddle poston between the lower end poston and the poston "16". 4. Tghten the knurled knob (6). 5. Run some test-cuts to check f t s possble to separate the PCB's. If t s not possble reduce the dstance between the blades n small steps.! Notce! The descrbed adjustment helps to reduce the separaton forces. Ths s mportant when senstve components are very close to the groove. Attenton! Before movng the machne to a new locaton, set the upper blade to the Park poston.
3 Installaton 3.4 Adjustment of the Stop of the Upper Blade 9 Notce! The lower stop of the upper blade adjustment s already adjusted by delvery. After a long operaton tme, whle workng at strongly varyng temperatures or else after replacng a blade, t s recommended to re-adjust the lower stop. 1 2 7 8 3 4 5 6 Fg. 5 Adjustment of the stop of the upper blade 1. Hold the knob (7) and loosen the knurled knob (8). 2. Rotate the ponter (2) wth the knob (7) ant-clockwse nto poston "16". 3. Loosen the cylnder screw (3). 4. Move the knob (7) clockwse untl the upper and lower blades gently touch wthout overlappng. 5. Hold tght the knob (7) and tghten the knurled knob (8). 6. Swng the strut (6) clockwse untl you reach the stop and tghten the cylnder screw (3). Ths adjustment locks the upper blade n place to prevent t from movng out of adjustment. 7. Re-adjust the upper blade poston 3.3 on page 8. 3.5 Upper Gude Adjustment 1 2 D 3 Fg. 6 Upper gude adjustment 1. Usng a pre-scored PCB, check the clearance D between the gudes (1,3). The clearance should be set so that the edge of the upper gude s located correctly nto the pre-scored groove of the PCB. The PCB can be smoothly moved backwards and forwards but cannot move sdeways. The upper gude (1) prevent the PCB from slppng to the sde and therefore ensures that t s not separated other than at the pre-scored groove. 2. As requred, the clearance D should be adjusted as descrbed above by turnng the eccentrc adjusters (2).
10 4 Operaton 10 4.1 Swtchng on the Machne Swtch the machne on. The mans power swtch (1) s stuated at the rear of the machne n the mans module. After swtchng on the dsplay (2) of the control panel shows "0". 6 7 2 3 4 5 1 8 9 10 Fg. 7 Operaton 4.2 Settng the Speed of Separaton Notce! The speed may be swtched durng operaton as well as n Standby mode. In the latter case, the set speed wll be shown as long as the SPEED key (3) s beng pressed. Press the SPEED key (3) f necessary several tmes. The key may be reached wth a ponted tool through the hole (4). The speed may be adjusted n three levels : 4.3 Separatng the PCB's Dsplay "1" : 100 mm/s Dsplay "2" : 200 mm/s Dsplay "3" : 300 mm/s! Warnng! Rsk of hand njury! Wear protectve gloves whle PCB separatng. Notce! When usng the machne for the frst tme, degrease the blades wth a soft cloth. 1. Press Start/Stop key (5). The lower blade (10) starts to rotate at ts preset speed. The preset speed wll be shown at the dsplay (2). 2. Lay the PCB (8) onto the lower gude (9). 3. Slde the PCB forwards between upper and lower gude (6,9) to the blades (7,10). The rotatng lower blade (10) wll catch hold of the pre-scored PCB, whch wll be separated as t s transported between the two blades. 4. In order to return to Standby mode, press the Start/Stop key. The motor wll be swtched off and the lower blade wll stop. Notce! When the machne s swtched off, t s possble to separate PCB s manually. Insert the PCB between upper and lower gude (6,9) and then push t gently between the blades (10,11 ).
4 Operaton 4.4 Error Treatment The devce has an overload protecton whch wll swtch the motor off. Error Message Cause Remedy Dsplay "F" Overload Table 3 Error messages 1 2 when tryng to cut besde the prescored groove when a component on a PCB are jammed between the blades 3 The cutter drve wll perform a short backward movement and wll then swtch off wthn 0.5 s of the overload occurrng. The backward movement releves the removng of the jammed materal. Remove the jammed materal. Press the Start/Stop key. The devce swtches to the standby mode (Dsplay "0"). Check both blades for any possble damage before re-startng operaton. 11 4 5 6 Fg. 8 Algnment of blades and gudes! Attenton! In order to ensure that the machne functons correctly, t s mportant that the surfaces of all parts shown n the fgure, e. lower gude (6), upper gude (3), and the upper and lower blade covers (1,4) are exactly n lne wth the blades (2,5). Ths settng s acheved ex-works by placng washers between the machne frame and the parts lsted. Only dsmantle the above parts when absolutely necessary. In such an event (eg. as a result of a very narrow sde-strp removed from a PCB becomng jammed), t s mportant that all washers removed are carefully put to one sde. Upon reassemblng the machne, mount all parts wth the concernng washers at the correct postons.

Wear protectve gloves whle handlng the blades. 1 2 3 6 7 8 9 Fg. 9 4 5 Blade replacement 5.1 Replacement of the Upper Blade Spare Part: 8930509.001 Crcular Blade 1. Rase the upper blade to the Park poston. 10 11 12 2. Loosen the knurled knob (7) completely from the blade shaft (4). 3. Remove the crcular blade (2) from the blade shaft (4). Do not lose the spacers (1,5) located on the blade shaft (4), between the blade (2) and the frame. Replace the spacers (1,5) f necessary. 4. Slde the replacement blade (2) onto the blade shaft as far as possble. 5. Put the knurled knob (3) onto the blade shaft. 6. Adjust the upper blade poston 3.3 on page 8. 7. Adjust the stop of the upper blade 3.4 on page 9. 5.2 Replacement of the Lower Blade Spare Part: 8933661.001 Crcular Blade 1. Rase the upper blade to the Park poston. 2. Unscrew the screw (9) from the shaft (10) and remove the clampng plate (8). 3. Remove the crcular blade (12) from the shaft. It wll be found that between the blade and the housng, spacng washers (11) are located on the shaft. These should be left on the shaft, or replaced as necessary. 4. Slde the replacement blade (12) onto the blade shaft as far as possble. Ensurng that the cut-out (7) n the blade locates onto the key (6) on the blade shaft, slde the blade onto the shaft as far as possble. 5. Insert the screw (9) through the clampng plate (8) nto the shaft. 6. Hold the blade (12) tght and tghten the screw (9). 7. Adjust the upper blade poston 3.3 on page 8. 8. Adjust the stop of the upper blade 3.4 on page 9.
