news update October 2018 (No.8/18) There are some items of sad news to impart in this issue. Marjorie Grudgings, beloved wife of our Spares Co-ordinator Bill Grudgings, passed away on September 26 th at the age of 87. Marjorie had not been in the best of health for several years, but had always supported Bill in their enjoyment of all the M.G.s that he restored over the years. They even went on their honeymoon in an M.G. J2 that Bill only completed a few days before their marriage. Marjorie will be greatly missed by all members of the Society who enjoyed her company on so many EMGS events over the years. Our deepest sympathy goes to Bill and all of the family. * * * It was with great sadness that the MG Owners Club announced that the highly respected Editor of Enjoying MG, Richard Ladds, lost his long battle with cancer on Tuesday 2nd October. Richard passed away peacefully at home and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the M.G. community. In his 22 years as Editor he ably provided the magazine s readership with a well-balanced and informative magazine that is highly regarded in M.G. circles. Richard was an M.G. enthusiast all his driving life and although seriously ill in latter times was able to give his beloved MGB GT a final blast down a private road just a few weeks ago! All the team at Octagon House, Swavesey will so miss his infectious laughter, sharp wit and banter we thoroughly enjoyed. Our sincere sympathy and thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. Not every EMGS member will know that our own magazines are assembled and printed by the editorial team at the MG Owners Club headquarters, until recently under the guidance of Richard Ladds. We owe Richard and his team a debt of gratitude for their work on the EMGS magazines and look forward to a continuing relationship with their new editor, Holly Colas.
Richard Ladds * * * On a happier note, Keith Herkes was pleased to do the honours by transporting the bride & groom in his M.G. 18/80 Mk II Saloon last month, for Nick Fearnley who is the chief paint sprayer at the MG Owners Club workshops.

Pre-war Prescott 2019 Saturday July 20 th The organiser of this event is Ian Grace, who was a member of the Early M.G. Society during the 1990s. He has kindly asked the Society if next year, members would like to display their cars in a reserved parking area in the paddock at Prescott. A big entry of Triple M cars is anticipated for 2019. So far we ve had about six cars owners who ve said they ll attend, but no Flat-Rad M.G. 14/28s or 14/40s as yet. Obviously, we d like to display each basic EMGS model because this is an opportunity to increase awareness of the Society and perhaps to sign up new members. I you wish to display your car, please let me know. You would have to officially enter the event via the entry form which can be found by clicking here : http://prewarprescott.com/?page_id=161 The entry fee is 50 per car which includes the driver and as many passengers as you care to bring with you. If you are a member of the Bugatti Owners Club or the Vintage Minor Register, then the entry fee is only 35 per car. (You could join the Vintage Minor Register for 20 and get 15 off your entry fee each year.) Your entry fee includes one non-competitive free climb of the hill in your car, a commemorative programme and a 5 raffle ticket for a free flight in a Tiger Moth. For those who stay overnight on Saturday we will organise a scenic Cotswolds tour for the Sunday. Do try to bring your car and join the EMGS display.
