EU-Japan Municipal Dialogue on Urban Policy (in the framework of the EU-Japan Urban Policy Dialogue) Agenda for the 1st Working Group Meeting Version after successful completion of the meeting World Cities is a project of the European Union managed by the Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission. The project originates in a Preparatory Action of the European Parliament to promote the exchange of experience and best practice between the European Union and third countries on the theme of territorial development with particular reference to urban development, urban-rural partnership and urban cross-border cooperation. This is the first of three working meetings within the EU-Japan Municipal Dialogue on Urban Policy. The objective of this first working meeting is to share a mutual understanding of the challenges that the cities face, the policies and practices that the cities are implementing, and expectations for the exchange, as well as to generate a collaborative approach among participants from the eight Japanese and European cities. The groups will discuss and clarify regarding their respective approaches and projects, identify similar challenges, discuss field visit schedule, and share expectations for the exchange. Each group will be assigned an ICLEI contact to moderate the discussion and take notes.
