Itinerary Flight Options Aer Lingus flies daily from Dublin to Lyon Saint Exupery Airport located 25km from Lyon city centre. There are two flight options from Dublin departing at 6am and 11.40am arriving in Lyon at 9.15am and 3pm. Coach transfer time from the airport to city centre is approximately 50 minutes. Aer Lingus offer one flight from Lyon to Dublin departing Lyon at 3.40pm arriving in Dublin at 5pm. Ryanair don t have a flight option from Dublin to Lyon. Optional Tours Beaujolais Day Trip Cost per person 120 including lunch and wines. Friday 12.30pm to 6.30pm The Beaujolais wine region consists of 38 wine making villages located 30 minutes north of Lyon. Many of the wineries in this region are small producers producing mainly light red wines with Gamay Noir grapes. We will taste Fleurie and Cote de Brouilly red wines during our tour and dine at the 1* Michelin restaurant in Chateau de Bagnols which dates back to the 13th Century and is surrounded by French style gardens. Historic Guided Tour of Lyon Cost 35 per person. 9.30am -12.30am Saturday 22nd September 2019 Departing from the Intercontinental Lyon Hotel Dieu our guided walking tour will bring you through Place Bellecour to the Opera House, Town Hall and onwards to the Palace de Justice. The walking tour will include a visit to the Cathedral Saint Jean Baptiste and some time to explore the narrow streets of Vieux Lyon. About Lyon Lyon is the gastronomic capital of France and the third largest city located in the south east of France where the Rhone and the Saone rivers meet. The ancient part of the city with its narrow cobbled streets dates back to the 12th century and is a world UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city rests below the Fourviere (hill of prayers) and Croix Rousse (hill of workers) and is easily accessible by train with three TGV stations linking Lyon with Paris and Marseille within 90 minutes. There are a wide variety of restaurants and museums throughout Lyon which is surrounded by vineyards to the north in the Beaujolais region and Cotes du Rhone 32 kms south of Lyon. About the Intercontinental Lyon The 5* Intercontinental Lyon Hotel Dieu opens in June 2019 following four years of renovations. It has 143 rooms and is located on the bank of the river Rhone in the centre of Lyon. The property has been converted from Lyons former Hotel Dieu, one of the oldest hospitals in France famed for its architectural beauty. The Hotel Dieu was founded in the 12th Century by the Hautecombe monks and was sold to the city of Lyon in 1478. The grand dome was finished in the 19th century and it forms part of a listed group of buildings that dates back to the 12th Century close to Place Bellecour.
