Additions, Amendments and Deletions to the 2019 rates manual include: BOTSWANA MARCH 2018 Selinda Camp and Selinda Suites rates now available at the brand new camp opening 1 May 2019. MAY 2018 Child age limits at Selinda Explorers camp and Duba Plains Camp have been updated. Selinda Camp guest tent, Selinda Suite numbers and child age limits have been updated. The May 2019 departure dates for the Selinda Adventure Trail departures have been reduced. The 10 June departure date has been corrected to reflect the 4 day / 3 night experience. Heli the Thrillway Special offers grid has been updated. JUNE 2018 Expected opening date of the brand new Selinda Camp has been adjusted to 1 July 2019. OCTOBER 2018 Great news - the expected opening date of the brand new Selinda Camp has been brought forward to 1 June 2019. DECEMBER 2018 Private wildlife viewing vehicle option from 01 May 2019 has now been added to Selinda Explorers Camp. KENYA MARCH 2018 Private wildlife viewing vehicle rates now available at Mara Expedition Camp. APRIL 2018 The Ride Kenya - Mara out ride rates at our Mara Plains and Mara Expedition Camps as well as the combination horse riding packages have been adjusted. DECEMBER 2018 The opening date for our brand new camp, Mara Nyika, which is set in the Naibosho Private Conservancy on the northern border of Maasai Mara is set to open 1 August 2019. Mara Nyika Camp nighty rates and Mara Nyika & Ride Kenya Horse Riding package rates have been added to this manual now. Mara Plains & Ride Kenya Horse Riding package rates have been adjusted lower for 2019. JANUARY 2019 Ride Kenya Mara will cease operations from 31 January 2019. Existing horses, tack and equipment will be transferred to ol Donyo Lodge in the Chyulu Hills to enhance the horse riding experience there. All horse riding packages, inclusions and offers at Mara Plains, Mara Expedition and Mara Nyika Camps will therefore no longer be available as form 01 February 2019. Guests are able to confirm a helicopter transfer from Victoria Falls town after a road transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport. This is an additional cost and would take about 40 minutes. Comprehensive medical and travel insurance (including temporary Flying Doctor Membership where relevant in Kenya) is required for all guests travelling to the properties and is a condition of travel and stay. GREAT PLAINS CONSERVATION These general guidelines apply to all of the Great Plains Conservation properties: Families at all our camps will be on shared activities with other guests. The minimum age requirement for walking and canoeing is 12 years in all camps except Selinda Explorers Camp where activities will be adjusted for children 10 years and older. Children 15 and younger must share a room with at least one adult. On the Selinda Adventure Trail, children 10 to 13 years (inclusive) are welcome on departures that have been booked on a private basis. This allows the guide and crew to adjust the daily walking and/or canoeing distances to suit the family s needs. The child rate is based on a child sharing with two adults (except ol Donyo Lodge, Mara Plains and Selinda Camp family rooms where is up to two children sharing with two adults). If this configuration is not possible, then it may be that the child will be charged the applicable adult rate. We evaluate each booking to ensure we deliver the best possible safari experience to all our guests in camp. In some cases, we may need to turn away a family booking in order to do so; we will do everything possible to try and avoid that outcome. Our camps are located in wildlife zones that are not fenced in and there are no child care facilities in our camps. Parents/guardians must be watchful of and responsible for their children at all times. Each of our camps has a unique child policy based on the size, location and structure of the camp.
