It may be more of a surprise to find a rare Japanese speciality on the menu at the Shepherd & Dog at Forward Green. Owner, Mary Bruce says, We are lucky to be in the same village as Earl Stonham Farms who produce Wagyu cattle. These animals eat a top-quality diet of natural ingredients and the delicious beef is in high demand from top restaurants. When they asked if we would like to have our kitchen muster up some Wagyu burgers we jumped at the chance. It s essential to pre-order as the burgers are not always available. The brewing vessels are right beside the bar at Old Cannon Brewery in Bury St Edmunds so enjoy a pint of ale whilst watching the next brew in the making! The kitchen has a reputation for serving the bounty of the county and beer is an ingredient in many favourite dishes.
