Alnwick Castle has also featured in Downton Abbey where it doubled as the entrance to HMP York Prison and also as Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey's 2014 Christmas special. 8 Hour Tour Forth Bridges, Fife and St. Andrews 8 Hour Tour Edinburgh Area Tour Forth Bridges, Fife and St. Andrews Let us take you to the Kingdom of Fife. As you cross the Forth Road bridge look out for the world famous Forth Rail Bridge which opened in 1890. This tour gives you time to wander around Falkland Palace, once used as the country residence of the Stuart monarchs, and a favourite place of Mary Queen of Scots. Take time to view the oldest real (or royal) tennis court in Britain and the gardens which were designed by Percy Cane. Your next stop will be the town of known the world over as the home of golf, but it could also be described as a coastal resort, an old town or a University town. On leaving St. Andrews you will enjoy a tour of the fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife before returning to Edinburgh. Tour the Outskirts of Edinburgh Let us take you out of the city to see the area that surrounds Edinburgh. Visit famous landmarks such as the Forth Bridges and the dramatic fortress of Blackness Castle. You could let your chauffeur drive you to Glenturret. This is Scotland's oldest distillery and is the only place where you can see the world s largest bottle of whisky! Or perhaps Dewar s World of Whisky in Aberfeldy, where the stills have produced whisky since 1898, is more to your taste. If you have seen the world s largest bottle of whisky at Glenturret Distillery, why not balance your tour with a wee visit to Edradour. This is the smallest whisky distillery in Scotland and could possibly be the smallest legal distillery of any kind in the World. Whatever your taste in whisky, you can take a wee dram whilst we take care of the driving. The Abbeys of the Scottish Borders This Scottish Borders area sits south of Edinburgh & The Lothians and to the north east of Dumfries & Galloway. This is an area of magnificent natural beauty and historical importance. Four remarkable abbeys are located in the Scottish Borders. These are, Melrose Abbey, Dryburgh Abbey, Jedburgh Abbey and Kelso Abbey. Melrose Abbey is probably the most famous Abbey ruin in Scotland. The abbey was founded in 1136 by David I and was largely destroyed in 1385 by Richard II's English army. You can visit the Chapter House at Melrose Abbey, where the heart of King Robert the Bruce is thought to be buried. Instead of visiting all four of these Abbeys, this tour gives you the option of visiting other locations, including, Floors Castle, Mellerstain House, Rosslyn Chapel (Da Vinci Code), or the Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery.
