Kenosha Regional Airport Highlights The Kenosha Regional Airport has been serving the needs of general and corporate aviation since it's construction in 1958. The 900 plus acre facility is owned and operated by the City of Kenosha, and is one of the busiest airports in Wisconsin. Kenosha Regional is also a designated reliever airport for corporate, freight, and general aviation activity for the Milwaukee/Chicago corridor. Kenosha Regional is currently home to more than 270 based aircraft, more than any other airport in Wisconsin. It currently averages 59,000 aircraft operations per year, and 850,000 gallons in fuel flowage sales. As of 2015, 52 hangar leases are managed and enforced by the airport, consisting of 200 T hangars, nine aviation service businesses, four flight schools, several corporate departments, and two Fixed Base Operators (FBOs). A new 44,000 square foot hangar recently opened, and two additional hangars will soon be built. One will feature screening facilities for the Department of Homeland Security US Customs and Border Protection. This is an exciting opportunity to attract international travelers, and Kenosha Regional will likely become Kenosha International Airport. The 2016 Kenosha Regional Airport staff will consist of one full time Director, one Supervisor of Operations, two full time and three part time Airport Maintenance Technicians, and one part time Administrative Secretary. The staff is responsible for managing airport development, leasing of airport property, and maintenance of all airport owned buildings, grounds, and the airfield itself. The airfield is configured with 3 runways. The main runway, 7L-25R, measures 5,499 feet long by 100 feet wide. Runway 15-33 is 4,400 feet long by 100 feet wide, and 7R-25L comes in at 3,300 feet long by 75 feet wide. In a recent study, the FAA concluded that this airport will continue to experience moderate but consistent growth into the future. With all of the recent industry growth in the area, along with the increase in air traffic and fuel sales, Kenosha Regional Airport is truly a growing asset. Position Profile This recruitment is open to all qualified individuals and will establish an eligibility list which will be used to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill any other such openings in this classification which occur within the next 12 months. This is a non-represented position. The Airport Director reports to the Mayor and City Administrator and directs all operations of the regional airport facility. Serving the needs of a wide range of users, the Director also supports the existing economic base of the area and serves as a positive factor in attracting new development. A primary function is to develop an overall marketing strategy in conjunction with the other economic development entities existing in the community. Work is reviewed through conferences and written reports for results obtained relative to policy and political issues. Performs other work as requested or assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively supervises airport personnel including the hiring, discharge, assignment, evaluation, and discipline of subordinate employees. Plans directs and coordinates functions and operation of the Airport. Directs the maintenance of the Airport grounds, facilities and equipment. Administers lease agreements. Enforces Airport rules and regulations. Administers provisions of Airport security including the protection of the public, property and Airport personnel. Establishes and enacts readiness plans to handle emergencies. Conducts public relations program to promote community awareness of the Airport through various activities such as: speaking before civic groups, service organizations, schools and other forums. Provides airport field trips, conducts air shows, conducts open houses at the Airport. Develops pamphlets and brochures that will enhance the Airport image among its users and the community. Establishes effective plans, such as a noise abatement plan to protect the community and yet preserve the most efficient approaches to the Airport. Coordinates Airport development and improvement with the proper State and Federal agencies; interacts with federal and state agencies. Develops and implements programs for soliciting business, industry and commercial aviation interest. In coordination with the Mayor and City Administrator, develops mutually beneficial economic packages or opportunities to solicit and obtain clients for the Airport. Develops promotional material emphasizing the benefits of location and business arrangements with the Kenosha Regional Airport. Assists potential businesses and industries in utilizing existing government programs. Prepares airport leases, contracts, concessions and charges.
