Sponsoring Dealer s Report - December 2015 I can t believe the end of the year is nearly here. It has been a great HOG year with the rides and events being well attended, and all have been safe rides. Your HOG Executive have done a great job and as always their volunteer time has been much appreciated by the Dealership. Thank you to the Exec for all their work. The Chapters 25th celebrations will be over by the time this HOGWASH goes to print, I know that everyone will have had a great time as so much effort has gone in to the organisation of it. It is very cool to see so many Past Directors are attending and their attendance really shows the depth and stability of the Chapter over such a long period. HOG International has added another benefit to your HOG membership in announcing free admission to the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. If you are ever in the U.S and have the opportunity to go to the HD Museum it is a must see, it is the most amazing museum with so much history around Harley-Davidson and HOG. The Harley Owners Group is an important part of our history and our future. The passion and camaraderie H.O.G. members share with Harley-Davidson is a big part of what makes Harley- Davidson so successful. Barry, I and the team at Road and Sport wish all HOG members and their families a very merry Xmas and a happy New Year. May Xmas be everything you wish it to be. Look forward to seeing you in the Dealership. Take care out there, Ride and have fun The team at Road and Sport. Which means Christmas is only 10 days away. They say as you get older the years go by faster!!! Before we know it, Christmas and New Years will be over and we ll be back at work and well into yet another year. Thank you to all the members who have so kindly provided ride write-ups for the HW this year. It has been great to see so many members taking part this way and always great to hear their persepctive on the ride and how much they enjoy the rides. Without these write-ups the HW would be pretty boring. A big thank you to Shelley, our Sponsoring Dealer, Road & Sport Harley-Davidson, and to our current Director, Steve for your contributions for the HW as well. What a fantastic evening Friday 11th December was - the Chapter s 25th Anniversay/Christmas event, Friday. I know how much time and work went into the organising of this event, countless hours of phone calls, emails, listening to bands, visits to the Juke Box Dinner etc, so a massive big thank you to Deane Blaikie for such a great evening, From the comments and the thank you s from those that attended I think we could quite comfortably say it was a huge success. Thank you also to Trev, for all your support and help in the organising with Deane, I know he appreciated all your help. Thank you to Road & Sport Harley-Davidson for the lovely breakfast supplied on Saturday morning. Was great to be able to mix and mingle with members over a declicous breakfast. As a Chapter we really do appreciate having such a close relationship with our Sponsoring Dealers and staff, and do appreciate all you do for the Chapter. I want to express to you all my best wishes for the Christmas and New Years season. I am sure you will want to be out on your bikes as much as possible during this time and making the most of the lovely weather. Please take care out there, ride and be safe and I look forward to seeing you all in 2016. Janice, Editor Devonport ride - November 2015 My husband and I left Coromandel and headed to Mercer where we met up with Ash our head road captain and the rest of the team that had come through from Road and Sport. A total of 25 Bikes and 29 people, we then hit the road and headed to Devonport. It was around Mt Wellington/Greenlane area where it suddenly hit me why I moved out of Auckland, I had plenty of time to contemplate this while we were going no faster than 15km per hour, yep stuck in Auckland traffic on a Saturday, excellent!!! Our poor Harleys were getting pretty hot but we made it safely to Devonport where we all went off in different directions to find one of the many amazing cafe's for lunch. Meeting back at the bikes an hour later for a photo shoot Back on the road again. We were heading back on the motorway quite nicely, nek minnit bumper to bumper again with what turned out to be an accident on both sides of the motorway in exactly the same place, man, we need to be careful out there people, I do hope that no one was seriously hurt in either of the incidents. Stopped off at BP South for fuel and a regroup and it was from here that Matt took over as RC and we hit the road again. Paul and I dropped off the ride at the Coromandel turn off at the bottom of the Bombays while the others headed back towards Morrinsville. A total of 394km for Paul and I. We had a mean day, always nice to catch up with our HOG whanau. Ka mau te weihi (awesome) Thanks to you all for a great day, Marlene Johnson. Chapter Ride Card Draws How many of us like to win?? How about winning a $20 petrol voucher? When you come along on a Chapter ride, rider or pillion, you will notice the Road Captain with a pack of playing cards offering Chapter members the chance to draw a card from the pack. The winning card prize is a $20 petrol voucher and the chance to provide the write up on the ride for the Chapter s newsletter - the HOGWASH. The write up is optional. But what isn t optional is the winner being a current financial member of the Chapter. The Road Captain relies on the honesty of those drawing a card that they are a current paying member of the. page 2 page 3

Paeroa ride - 2nd December 2015 Waikato/BOP Dinner in the Bay- 11th November Dinner Ride to Paeroa Happy Birthday Janice December 2nd, 2015 Wednesday night did not look the greatest for a ride but hey, if I don t have to cook, I won t say no. We got to R&S around 6.10 pm, a little late to ride with the group so we headed off to Paeroa through Gordonton, Maungateparu and onto the swamp road. It wasn t long before we could see tail lights in the distance, road works had slowed the group down a little so we were able to catch up. John B was tail end Charlie and up the front were Deane and Janice. And I am pleased to say the mist that had looked like rain seemed to disappear! By the time we got to One3One in Paeroa the BOP contingent were waiting for us. Nine bikes and thirteen people in all. From the photo to the left, it looks as though Mark and I didn t want to park with the others, there was however, a vehicle parked there when we arrived! A very pleasant dinner was had by all and to top it off, Deane did himself proud by organising a birthday cake for Janice. Once desert (birthday cake) was over it was time to head home. It was a great night for a ride to Okoroire for the BOP Dinner. It was awesome to see some of the Waikato group meet us there, thanks guys and gurls for supporting the ride and dinner. The $40 Countdown Spot Prize voucher was won by John Hancock from the Bay. Nice ride home over the hill in the cool of the evening for us. Cheers Chris Wray Area Co-Ordinator Hot off the Press - Chapter T-Shirts Miriam Lynch The Chapter s Executive Committe are extremely happy to annouce that the Chapter s new T-Shirts have arrived and we think they look sensational. Add a pillion for $45 per trip. Please note: This is for HOG members only and must not be given out or used for non HOG members. It is important we protect this for our own or we could lose it. To enter the group code follow the link https://www.interislander.co.nz/booking/group-bookings.aspx# There is a wide variety of sizes and we are expecting these to go very quickly, so you will want to be in quick to get yours. This is for the Interislander only and not Bluebridge and is for off peak times only, 16 February - 1 Apri 2015. Women s t-shirt sizes XS - 2XL LOH Acacia ride - 29th November 2015 We set off from Road and Sport with 16 bikes, picking 1 up at Ohaupo. 19 people joined me on my maiden LOH ride, and what a ride, beautiful sunshine and awesome roads with not much traffic. We had 2 new members join us, Mike from Taupo and James from Te Awamutu welcome :) Men s/women s long Sleeve t-shirt sizes S - 3XL Chapter 25th Anniversary Pens Going through Kihikihi we were turned back just by Kihikihi Primary because a milk tanker had left it s load on the road. So we were detoured through Allen Road, another road not many had been on. Rhubarb café at Arapunui kept up it s reputation of quick service and awesome hospitality and of course yummy eats!! Back over the Arapunui dam and down Rotongata Road, a road some said they had never been on, so that was a good choice. As part of the Chapter s 25th Anniversary celebrations the members that attended the evening were gifted an anniversary pen in a presenation box. The HOG logo and wording 25th Anniversary, 1990-2015 are printed on the pen and on the box. A left turn on to Waipapa Road and off down Mangakino to Whakamaru, then off down SH 32 to Taupo. Lunch at L Arte proved expensive for some who did a bit of shopping, but they got some awesome bits, a really neat place to stop. I know you will want to keep one of these special pens as a momento so you will want to purchse these sooner than later as they will sell very fast. You will also want to have one of these pens in your pocket or handbag to use, they are such a lovely pen to write with, plus they will also make good Christmas presents - so be in quick. After lunch we all got together and had a photo amoungst the mosaic art, what a hug effort by Judi who has don t it all by herself. Then it was off to Okorire for a refreshment and debrief of the ride. Everybody seems to have enjoyed themselves, most of all me! These can be purchased from Road & Sport Harley Davidson for $20 each. Thanks to my Tec Mark G and Ash. Wendy Legg Men s t-shirt sizes S - 2XL page 4 page 5
